"One recent research study has indicated that many adolescents need more sleep than they are getting, and another study has shown that many high school students in our city are actually dissatisfied with their own academic performance. As a way of combating these problems, the high schools in our city should begin classes at 8:30 A.M. instead of 7:30 A.M., and end the school day an hour later. This arrangement will give students an extra hour of sleep in the morning, thereby making them more alert and more productive. Consequently, the students will perform better on tests and other assignments, and their academic skills will improve significantly."

Merely based on the unsounded assumptions and dubious evidences, the author draws a conclusion that high schools should begin classes one hour later in the morning for adolescents to sleep, and one hour later for ending of a day so that students will perform better on studying. Although the conclusion seems quite convincing and appealing at the first, it is in fact ill-received due to its flaws and defects, from my perspective, there are at least three flaws.

first and foremost, the study cited by the author is so vague that open to question.
there is no evidence to show whether the survey is representative,
as the arguer fails to inform us how many people were studied but did respond, if the person that investigated can stand for the whole situation of the high school students, the result will reverse if, for example, if
there three hundreds of students were studied while no more than fifty gave answers, the poll has no doubt to be suspected, what' more, we are also not informed if the investigation is constraint in only one geographic location, or the questions were leading, factors such as these might explain the result, and effect the generalization of the study's result.

In the second place, even if the survey turns out to validate the forgoing assumption, the conclusion remains to be questionable. The author simply based on the fact that students have not enough sleeping time, then he indicates that is due to high school's early beginning in the morning, which is highly suspect, as there may be other factors to led their sleeping time short, such as they might study till night after school, or they might have a strong press of study results in bad-sleeping condition at night. lacking such alternative explanations the correlative is not credible, and even make the change of school meaningless.

finally and may be the most importantly, the author too hasty to make a conclusion considering that the project of school will surely change the phenomenon that students' dissatisfactions with their academics as the propositions the sleeping problem has not been solved, and there are also some alternative events may lead students not satisfy with their performance, such as their abilities of studying new things, or if professors can convey knowledge to students clearly , or whether is that the classes is very difficult to learn and so on, so even assumes the sleeping problem has been solved according to the new schedule one hour later in the morning, it is still can not be certain students may enhance their performance.

From the analysis above, the argument, which seems to be logical at first, fails to substantiate strong and credible evidence to justify the speaker's claim. In order to make the conclusion much more logical and acceptable, it can be improved by providing more evidences.
