Art reflecting what the world is like in the artists’ eyes manifest both ostensible and hidden ideas and impulses of a society. But some artists only convey their own opinions. Some masterpieces are valued because of their revealment of the hidden ideas of society.

Art as a mean to express ideas and opinions can be elucidate through different angles. Sometimes art helps elaborate the common truth people are unwilling to talk about. The generation of sarcasm, which can be used in art like literature, operas, cartoons and so on, lighten some dark corners in the world. A person needn’t to talk directly but use the sarcasm to attack more heavily some scandals. Sometimes some ideas and impulses of society which is forbidden by contemporary authorities turned to art to keep vitality. For example, the current researchers infer that the Great Chinese novel The Red Mansion, which was once forbidden to issue in the Chinese history, implies that the Qing Dynasty would fade away. Thus, art is a form to statement to reveal some hidden truth.

However, art expresses more about the artists’ personnel interests and the aesthetic idea in a direct manner, which called the non-hidden ideas. For example, love as the constant theme of art in the history is interpreted in music, literature and painting. Numerous of poems, songs and paintings eulogize the beauty of nature. Happiness, sadness all can be interpreted into art. How about architecture? Architecture always caters to the taste of current people. Like, the Olympic arena the Bird’s Nest caters the modern taste of environmental protection. You may also wonder what is true of beauty in art. Parks, palaces, paintings, almost all kind of art can bring you a big feast of beauty. So, art is good at expresses obvious icons.


In addition, whether or not revealing the hidden ideas and pulses of society, artworks are reflection of the whole nation. The museums as the great places to study history glean artworks because they reveal a tip of ice of a society. Those masterpieces that reflect some unknown ideas and impulses of society have focused the attention of a myriad of researchers nowadays. In one day the hidden ideas and impetus can be known to world and the opinion can live as long as it can.


All in all, art is a great mean to express citizens’ hidden idea and impulses. Creating art means people’s ideas and opinions can be inherited and known to the world one day.

The speaker claims that the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses of a society can be unveiled by the arts such as painting, music and literature. From my perspective, arts do transmit not only the personal conception of the artists but also some ideas and impulses in a society. Yet, art alone can not fully reveal the condition of a whole society.(This is a good idea)

It is said that all arts grow out of life and artists always draw the materials of their works chiefly from ordinary social life. Take literature as an example, hundreds of masterpieces are the reflection of real life in our society. In the west, Shakespeare's attempt to reproduce the manifold image of life leads to a peculiar特殊的 combination characteristic of his drama, allowing us to see extremely different characters varying from a royal princess( like Hemlet) to an ordinary merchant ( like Sharlevox). Besides showing the current condition of the society and the ideas of its people, arts can also expose the social changes, leaving people the memory of their passing life and the changes taking place around them. For example, during the past eight years, in order to record the growth of the 2010 Shanghai Expo, Lu Jie, a photographer has taken nearly 200,000 photos of the Expo park. In his first photo of this series, people can only see factories and houses on the site. When reviewing those pictures, people can be recalled of the passing days and the construction of Expo programe as well. Moreover, paintings and books can also record the social developments, which enable people be informed of the past and also have a blueprint of the future society. 这里新提出的分论点，最好举例说明！

Admittedly, since the arts are always the products of artists, the artists' subjective state of mind is more likely to be showed on the works. Considering this, the arts alone can not fully express the social ideas and trends. People can gather the economic information from the stock market through the figures, helping them to know which industry develops well at present, while they can also grab political information from the presidents' speech, knowing what policy will be taken into practice next. Compared with the arts, the implicit record of the society, political policies and economic conditions can also serves as a reflection.
可以举一些正面的例子说明，一些艺术仅表现个人的观点而不是反映社会，如，一些歌手，反映了对情人的爱，等等。

In sum, there’s no denying that the arts can unveil the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses of a society in different styles from paintings to literature. However, besides the arts, people can also gather information of society from our real life, which sometimes proves to be a more effective and direct way to learn about the society.
