Do technologies not only effect the customs and ethics but determine them? What is the true relationship between them? In general, technologies do influence social ethics and customs, however they can not determine the social spirits. There are various
factors influencing the social spirits.

Technology, one of the most powerful motivations in economic boom, plays an important role in social development. It accelerates the pace of social production, thus leading to a prosperous society. On the other hand, technology also brings difference to public customs when changing the style of people’s life. When mobile phones are not so widely adopted years ago, the most convenient way to communicate with a distant friend is to write letters. Postmen were so busy delivering letters to people’s colleagues, friends, and families. With the spread of mobile phone, letters are decreasing sharply, because love and care are more often to be conveyed by short messages and convenient talks with the help of cell phones.

However, the adaptation and change of social ethics and customs
take a long time before it clearly responds
to technology. The public opinions are hard to reverse, let alone forming new customs and ethics. In history, when reformers were planning a fundamental social reform, they have take pains to adjust the social customs and ethics. Even by doing so, some old opinions and habits can not be determined. Since a thorough revolution can not complete the mission to determine social ethics and customs, how can ever-changing technologies achieve that unrealistic goal?

In reality, the influencing factors to adjust social customs and ethics are not merely technologies, but also culture background, economic development, racial characteristic and the like. There are so many elements combining to put public spirits forward. As a consensus among successful government leaders claims, the order of changing a society from difficult to easy are-weapons, technologies, and opinions.

On the contrary, the social ethics and customs also have an impact on the technological development. Scientists would be interested in cloning animals, even including human beings. However it is social morality and regulations that prevent scientist from doing complicated things which may breaking the social bottom line. Technology develop itself under the guidance of social ethics as well.

To sum up, technologies and social customs and ethics impact each other. Anyway no elements may function as a determinant factor to social customs and ethics. Technologies and social spirits need to cooperate to achieve both spiritual and material harmony to make lives better.

我觉得的把文章结构改成这样似乎更有逻辑：
科学发展的确会影响custom，但是影响custom的重要因素有很多，因此科学发展不能成为决定性因素（而且revolution什么的。。），在另一方面social ethics and customs 对于技术也有影响。
