Machines, however powerful they are, essentially, they are designed by human as tools of human minds. It is true that capabilities of machines are limited and turn out to be within the control of human. However, it is arbitrary to say that human will always be superior to them.
Firstly, machines are mostly creatures of human minds designed and used as tools. Edison invented the light bulb to facilitate the production and living. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone which we cannot go without it. Watt designed the steam-engine, which promoted the progress of the history. Because of so many machines, we can live so speedy and comfortable today. People use those machines to facilitate our everyday-lives.
Secondly, there are negative effects come from the usage of machines which are making us not so optimistic. Our social customs and ethics are influenced, challenged to some extent. It is a common sense that they are double-edge sword. People are thinking into something like what have happened to our human being and machines we created because we cannot easefully accepted our misled children and polluted environment and so many other kinds of crises generated by machines and the way of using them.
Furthermore, the reality we have to face wakes up from blind self-confidence. It is true that we provide machines with chances and energy to be used as tools, but they are not really totally under our control. That's because we are living a complicate world made up of our human being, what we create and the nature. Sometimes, we only consider our wishful thinking. So when we design or use a machine, we are unaware of or have no enough ability to the side-effects and by-products we may create. That’s just where so many problems result from.
On the other side, it is arbitrary to say that our human being will always be superior. People are reluctant to concede that we are small and weak what make us even conceited and arrogant. Even I do not want to depreciate the power of our human being, but I have been frightened by the power by machines. I was shocked by the news that one of my remote relative's arm was cut by machine. People may say that it is just an accident, but it makes people think. People are made up by cells which are very complicate and possesses fantastic properties but they are powerless when face up to something with steel framework and petroleum or electricity as power source. They will be even dangerous when manipulated by evil purpose of some of our human being, and it can lead to the human extinction with the forces of our Mather Nature. So, we can never say which is superior.
In summary, we are enjoying what machines bring us when they are created and used as tools, but we should never be over optimistic and we should always have our head screwed on the right way.
