TOPIC: ISSUE159 - "The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds."

Is human mind always superior to machines we created? The speaker claim so for the very reason that machines are born to be under human control. I concede that in most cases human can take control over the machines and relevant technologies because of human being's superiority. However, it is not uncommon to see the tragedies which resulted from out control of machines.
Admittedly, machines play a crucial role in the modern society and provide us much convenience for the very reason that they can do many things much better than human beings. We do not need to walk to work because of the invention of automobiles. And we do not have to climb up the stairs since there is a machine called elevator. One machine aptly illustrate(单数) this point involved the personal computer, the indisputably greatest invention in the last century. Firstly, we human beings just need to design the software which are aimed at various purpose, and the computer would calculate and analyze the data and feedback the statistic we want immediate upon we enter our command. Secondly, a single computer can store tons of libraries' books and hence we can stay at home and(or) swim unscrupulously in the sea of knowledge. In fact, it is computer that accelerate(单数) the development speed in most areas, no matter it be academics, business or politics.
In this respect, does computer(machine) outdo us in all aspects? Certainly not. In terms of memory and calculating, computer is really a(an) intelligent giant which is much more powerful than any human beings. Nevertheless,(,)when it comes to imagination, creation and aesthetics, it becomes a 3-year-old child. The most clever computer---"Deep Blue"--- can not(cannot) even design a simple Java program for itself. In short, most machines are relatively passive. They are designed to be tools of human minds, and they need to be activated by our commands and have not independent intelligence, that is, they cannot run spontaneities.
Anyway, human's general superiority to machines and relevant technology doesn't means(mean) that we can understand and control them well. For(as) supporting example, one need to look no further than the nuclear energy. Events like the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the Soviet Union in 1986; the accident at the Three Miles Island nuclear power plant in 1979 seems to indicate us(去掉) that human can not(cannot) take fully(full)control of the technologies they have created. Besides, more and more teenager(teenagers) are addicted to computers and Internet. They play games or chat online all day long and even refuse to go to school.Apparently, they seem to be the tools or slaves of machines rather than to (who)use machines as a tool. In this light, we can say that new forms of technologies and machines do not only stand for new benefit and convenience brought by them, but also adumbrate potential hazard. Thus, they are not merely our tools anymore. Instead, they may be the bombs we created (这个比喻好)and finally hurt ourselves if we keep nodding head to the notion that tools won't be able to hurt its makers, and keep underestimating its potential danger.
To sum up, the speaker's claim is fundamentally correct. Nevertheless, it would be improvident if we exaggerate this assertion that we human being will always be superior to machine. Otherwise, we will suffer more from this rash claim, given the more rapid speed of technological development and thus more unexpected factors awaiting(waiting) for us.
小错误很多,希望多注意,除此之外,语言流畅,结构思路都很好,加油加油!CRAZY~jo |
