TOPIC: ISSUE116 - "With the growth of global networks in such areas as economics and communication, there is no doubt that every aspect of society-including education, politics, the arts, and the sciences-will benefit greatly from international influences."

The growth of global networks in economics and communication is a double-edged sword. It brings us prosperities in almost every aspect of society, while at the same time it also causes some damages. And I will discuss separately in economics, education, culture and politics.

First, in economics. someone has described the speed of development in economics in the world(and I generalized): Five hundred years ago, the speed of is like a new-born baby crawling on road; after Industry Revolution, the speed is like a man walking in streets; after the second industry revolution, the speed is like running; and after globalization the speed is undoubtedly like flying. This description vividly reflects the positive impact that globalization to economics. The prosperities in economic in recent several decades have improve people's lives a lot, and reduced the poor population in the world. But after globalization, the world economy is like be tied with chains, once one part of it goes wrong, other parts will be affected either. The recent subprime crisis which happened in America is an example that it soon affected the economy of other areas and other countries. Thus, the globalization also brings some problems in economics when it brings high speed development in economics.

Second, I will talk about culture and education. As a student I deeply understand the benefits that globalization bring to this area. Take study abroad for instance, many years ago this is very difficult for Chinese students. At that time the communication among China and other Western countries was not so frequently as it now and to get visa is a very difficult task, let alone living abroad. Now, the conditions are different, I has opportunities to go abroad to study, and many students who from other countries can go and learn in China and this practice may make academic exchanges more convenient. However, there may be some problems and globalization is not almost good in this area. Culture conflicts, for instance, is a serious problem during communication. Each country has its own culture, when students from different areas and countries study in a same classroom the culture conflict may appear. So people should take measures to solve culture conflicts. As I said before, globalization is a double-edged sword that we should use it to solve problems, not to make problems more complicated.

Last but most difficult area - politics. In this area, the issue is difficult to discuss because, I consider, it may be a contradiction that every country wants to cooperate with each other, while at the same time they must remain independent. One country or even the United Nations can not interfere in internal affairs of other countries. As a result, although in the context of globalization, the whole world is peaceful, conflicts are continually in some small areas. So in politics areas, globalization may have some roles of public opinion but the benefits of this are not as apparent as it in other areas.

Summarily, globalization has different affects in different areas. Although it has two sides, the positive side is always more than the negative side.
