Whether the tenure of a leader in power should be limited in five years, a absolute period, is a complex problem and depends on many factors such as the profession, the quality and skill of leader, and the situation. The assertion that every leader in any profession should be replaced obviously over-generalizes the problem.

It's unfortunate, but true that there is no flawless individual in the world, therefore the tenure of those in power should be limited to a certain time in some profession, typically in political realm.
In democratic country, the president of the nation who proposes his points of view to some actual problems and his strategy of the development of the country is elected by every citizen. People vote for him because he concerns their problems and promise to take necessary measures to solve them. Imagine that if he had a infinite period of tenure, would he still work to find out and solve the problems of citizen. What's more, a limit of his tenure makes sure that the leaders would not abuse the power in his hand when faced by much seducement like wealth. This system of election exists in the US more than two hundred years, as well as all other democratic countries no matter rich or poor.


However, in the field of business whether a leader should step down is a case-to-case problem. For example, if a chief executive officer of a company is experienced, skilled and can make profits for the company, why should he be replaced when he can still work for his position? His stay can maintain the continuity of every measures and operation used, while a frequent change of leader may bring out a instable result to the enterprise. As for lots of private enterprises, the leaders who are also usually the owner begins his own business and certainly want to go on his business when he is not too old yet. Even he found that he is not able to do it anymore, he perhaps just wants to transfer to his son or relatives, but not respect the limit of the tenure. We can lots of such examples all over the world. Many famous businessmen, such as Bill Gates and JIacheng LI, the richest man in China, stay in power for a long time. Except the realm of business, the field of education needs not this strict limit either. When a talented professor is still able to do his research, we should do our best to provide enough conditions for him to make his contribution to the society, but not stop him by the unreasonable rule.

In conclusion, since situation may vary a lot from professions, thus the tenure problem should be discussed case by case. In politics, the limit of term is useful to avoid the corruption and abuse of power, but it seems unnecessary in the field of education and business.
