看了一个星期的issue还没感觉,8.11考,急了!!!第一篇昨天11点开写,今天1点半结束,熬出第一篇来了,欢迎拍砖!!!

issue 40 "Scholars and researchers should not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the larger society. It is more important that they pursue their individual interests, however unusual or idiosyncratic those interests may seem."

I agree with the speaker that scholars and researchers' pursuing of their interest should be more concerned than whether their their works make a contribution to the society. It is well known that interests can provides permanent incentive for a person to pursue his career, and the process how the successful scholars and researchers foster and chase their interests would offer an illumination for us.Nevertheless the interests should be correctly guided in case they provide no values for our society.
To begin with, one reason for my agreement with the speaker is that only with strong interests in his career can a person devote all his life to it while without tiredness distress, and consequently success will become easy.As an old saying "Interest is the best teacher",interest plays the role of incentive which goads a person in the way of pursing his favorite. We can imagine, without interest, how can Edison insiste in seeking for other material of light filament after thousands of failure;how can Copernicus change his career from doctor, which could have providered a comfortable life for him,to astronomer, which brought a hard life for him;how can Bill Gates decisively gave up his opportunity in Harvard, which is admired by so many people, and do his favorite job.
An another reason why I agree with the speaker is that how the successful foster their interests or how their interests are fostered are illuminating for us.It is usually wrongly considered that interest is formed by itself, yet,it is not innate,it is fostered by parents, teachers, even ourselves, and how to develop it is a topic worthy our concerns.Albert Einstein, who did a bad job in his study when his is young, and when he sat in classroom, the only thing he hoped is the dismission of class,he hated the history, geography, and all other classes except mathematics. Why he is so fascinated with mathematics ? He has a uncle called Jacob, when Einstein is very young, uncle Jocob often described the math in a lively way,for example, his described the ''algebra'' as follows:algebra is just like hunting, the animal hiding in the forest is call 'X',and what you should do is to walk close to the animal step by step until you catch it.Such vivid interpretation of algebra rooted in young Einstein's brain deeply and aroused his strong interest in algebra.
Admittedly,in claiming that interest plays a considerable role in scholars and researchers' valuable works,we cannot neglect the importance of correct guiding for developing interests.A correct guiding is a beacon, which prevents our boats of life from deflecting and sailing in vain. And when we focus on our interesting things it is necessary to consider whether they make contributions to our society currently or in future. For example,if a person is interested in perpetual motion machine, which violate the law of conversation of energy, and it is his destiny to fail, and it will never make sense for the society.

In sum,a person's interest in his work is a inherently perpetual force to drive him to continuously pursue his goal, and with concerning about the successful scholars and researchers' individual interest, how to foster interest well can be enlightened.Nonetheless, values of interest for society should be carefully considered so as to it develops in a right direction.
