题目:ISSUE56 - "Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."

In recent years, the topic of governments' focus is so hot that people varying from personalities as well as backgrounds tend to observe this same issue from diversified perspectives. A widely accepted viewpoint claims that our governments are supposed to put more emphasis on immediate problems of today rather than on anticipated problems of the future. Although I'm not pleased with the feeling of being a critic, I prefer to stand on the opposite of this claim and reckon that the potential risks brought by overlooking future problems will exceed the prospective benefits it may offer.

First of all, I have to concede that it is necessary for political officials to tackle with the immediate problems of today against time, for these problems are always closely connected to daily lives of common people, and may bring some fearful troubles to us if efficient solutions are failed to be provided at once. For instance, great lost is hard to be avoided if groups of experienced firefighters are not yet established by the city government when a terrible fire happen in the downtown, which means lives and properties of the common people would be thereby heavily threatened.

Nevertheless, if our political leaders put too much effort on problems that are more likely to explode in a short period of time, some long-term profits of the society which also play a significant role in holding a harmony world may be hence neglected. During the World War II, when Hitler had committed suicide and the Nazi German had been beat, the glory of final victory was not still vague for the alliance of America, UK, USSR and China. In such occasion, the American authority howbeit decided to use A-bomb in order to force the Japanese government to surrender at discretion as soon as possible. Maybe the warfare consequently had an earlier ending for several months; however, thousands of innocent Japanese residents are still suffering heavy diseases caused by the awful and persistent radiation.

At last, it is not a mission impossible to treat both the immediate problems and future problems appropriately at the same time. Though the tasks on the shoulders of our governments might be therefore tougher, it is politicians' duty to devote themselves into the process of improving the living standards of their electorate. For example, if the authority adopts the policy of giving allowance to the companies which are major in cars that use solar energy instead of gasoline, more working positions would be therefore produced immediately and our environment can be protected in long views.

To sum up, problems of today and future are not mutually exclusive alternatives. Instead, they serve as interwined elements and can co-exist in a harmonious way, which would be more profitable for human beings than allowing one of them to overshadow the other.
