I agree with the speak insofar as government should place few restriants on scientific research and development. However, some of scientific research have an brutal effection and an adverse influences in our society when it is examed by the humanity and even the laws which could set a primary protection for us. Thus, I hold the view that government should free the development of science after the security scrutiny by the laws and humanity.
Scientific research and development should be provided a free environment since its results play an indispensible role in personal and globle improvements. For individual, the comfort of the breezing cool in hot summer producing by air-condition and the convinence of access of receiving the cutting-edged information in MIT net-classrom have made people around the world enjoy the most lovable life. For global, the convinent network make it realize to let political lerders and business men worldwide communicate in present video-conference to eliminate the disagreements and dismisunderstands. Thus, any limitation for scientific research and development would definitily decrese the speed of invention and discovery of the new technologies and theories and therefore decrese the improvement of people's life and social development.
However, if there is not a basical examination to the scientific research and development, the scientific progress may obey its innitial routines. One famous sociologists in my university once told me, as long as you speed up to pursue your goals, you are most possible to lose the sight of its adverse influences it may bring, so in this condition, you need some wise rounder to give you some guidlines. To the same token, in fact, when scientists have been focusing on their research, they may overlook the invertible bad results of the research which possibly means a disaster to the whole society. In these circumstances, the censorship and the following restrictions are necessary.
Take the hot issue, stem cell research, as an example. When biological scientists and most famous doctors in the world focus on the cultivating the eggs and sprums and the significant progress it may bring for a series of rare diseases, such as leukima, hemophilia, and animia, they neglect the moral principle in our society. In spite of those who have a atrong curiousity of the new technique, thousands of people worldwide
opposite the research for the reason that the embyo cells which could mean a new life have been created and destroyed by scientists and this behavior obeys the humanity in our society.
In conclusion, I agree with speak's view that government should give a freedom to the sientific research and development. Yet, the sciense should provide the rights to ordnary people to have a scrutiny to it.
