I concede insofar the author's broad assertion that it is useful for the faculty of college or university to work outside. Yet to go out too far may lead to other problems for them and their original work at campus. On the other hand, however, there are still some other ways to attach the world outside instead of working outside.(感觉issue题目的问题没回答到重点上。他是问你In order to improve the quality of instruction,而你只是回答了how to attach the world outside instead of working outside.下同)
Admittedly, it is helpful for the professors to go out of academic world to work for a while. First, it is helpful for them to absorb new knowledge and information. As the development of the world accelerates, more and more information is created. The textbooks in campus, however, are always out of time. Thus it is necessary for the professors to go out for new information and then return to university to teach the students, since such knowledge is also needed for the students as well as basic fundamentals.
Second, working out may bring the campus teachers more experience of work, which is more necessary for the students than the theories. After graduating, all the students have to get in careers. The knowledge they have studied, however, is always filled with all kinds of theories. Such gaps between studying and working exist in most of the universities and colleges in the world, since their teachers, the professors in universities, are always lack of experience of working outside. Consequently, if the faculty went out to get working experience, their students would have been more competitive for work than those who were not taught about working experience.
(GOOD..
Going too far to work outside the academies, however, is also harmful to their work on campus. The energy and time of a person is limited; if a professor have been working outside too much, he/she will have no time and energy to deal with his/her teaching, researching, and other work which is his/her original work. The students need the experience, yet it is more essential for their basic need of knowledge to be satisfied. No matter how experienced a professor is, if he/she cannot teach the students enough knowledge or do well in research, he/she has no qualification to be in university or college.
On the other hand, however, as the development of information technology, without working outside, a professor can still get to present knowledge as well.(这句话来的有点突兀啊..) Academic database and search engine like Google have the ability to lead the faculty in campus to get to know the world outside as well as they are actually working outside. For working experience, since it is not the major part of education of campus, it is helpful for universities and colleges to invite the people who are successful in their career to be part-time professors. The faculty, on the other hand, can focus on their original teaching and researching work, without any noise outside.
In conclusion, to go outside campus for working is indeed helpful for the faculty, since they can not only attach new information but also learn working experience, both of which are necessary to university students. Going too far away from academy, however, is also harmful to their original work of education and research. In the other aspects, by getting on Internet and inviting successful career elites to become visiting professors are also good ways to get to latest knowledge and working experience for the students. Consequently, for education and research work in university or college, it is essential for the faculty to consider seriously before working outside the academic world.
