Should we say that the greatness of individuals only be decided only by those who live after them rather than their contemporaries? By giving the answer "yes", the speaker ignores some special cases which leads him to the extremes. In my opinion, I agree with the broad statement that the greatness of individuals are decided by those who live after them for most of the time.
Looking through the history, most of great individuals can not acknowledge broad cognition from contemperaries, the greatness of them is maintained for the people in future to judge.
In the realm of scientific research and academic fields, a lot of scientists strive their whole life to the development of the science, and even lost their lives in chasing the way of truth. Firstly, it takes a long time for the profound thoery which the scientists found to be confirmed by advanced experiment and application practice. It may last for tens, or even centuries while "contemporary" era has passed, in this case only people in later era can evaluate them by their lifetime of achievements. Secondly, in the contemporary era,owing to the limitation of contemporary technology and science, some genious discoveries can not be testified by the poor laboratory apparatus and equipments, neither do the imaginative deduction get a well-rounded understanding. Thirdly, people in later era can decide the greatness of these individuals by the enduring virtues and contributions till that era in a historical perspective. Thus, only those who live after contemporary era can decide the greatness of individuals in the realm of exploring the world.
Concerning another field, artistic world, we will find out that not only scientists mentioned above but also some of the artists suffered from ignorance when they are alive, however, after a certain era, considered to be grateful. One of the famous examples is Van Gogh, his painting receives wide recognition until tens of years after his death. It is also the people in later era that find out the beauty of his work and decide the greatness of him.
However, there exists some cases that contemporaries can decide. For example, the field of fashion, a fashion designer usually rises to fame in a short time. Since the main characteristic of fashion is that it differ from the mass costumes because of its innovation in design, when fashion becomes mass costume it is fashion no more. Because of its easiness in understanding and its short existing time, contemporaris can decide the greatness of fashion designers.
In sum, the speaker overlooks some individuals, whose achievements were broadly recognized as great by contemporaries. Nevertheless, at most time, for other  great achievements, especially scientific ones, can not be confirmed  without the benifit of historical perspective by the people in later era.

第三段思路很清晰，可惜没有例子。

如题，距离我考试只剩2天时间了，之前准备的也很匆忙，范文看了一些，但自己动笔的寥寥，对prominent figure的不熟悉（人名都记不住）让我在举例的时候很吃力，所以更多的是阐释自己的观点，举一些不涉及到具体individual的例子

以后的空闲时间我会常来这个论坛与大家互评作文，共同提高
