题目:ISSUE8 - "It is often necessary, even desirable, for political leaders to withhold information from the public."

In recent years, a widely accepted viewpoint claims that it is always essential for political leaders to prevent some information from being known by the public. Although I'm not pleased with the feeling of being a critic, I would rather to stand on the opposite of this point of view and reckon that honesty still serve as one of the most significant characters for a government official even in the modern society.

First of all, I have to concede that as our living speed has been so quick nowadays, every government has to treat with thousands of cases no matter it is governing a town, a city or a country. It is a mission impossible for political officials to make everybody be satisfied with their work as every policy would inevitably hurt someone’s benefits, therefore many of the politicians choose to conceal some facts towards the public. Maybe in their eyes, individuals are not going to complain about the government for one thing that they do not even know it, and then the authority can be able to devote more time and energy in problems which are more "urgent and important".

Nevertheless, as every nation's educational system would tell its kids: honesty serves as an indispensible trait for every common person. You can not avoid from making mistakes, but it is a much more serious problem if you want to hide your mistake instead of admitting it to your parents and teachers. A political leader is supposed to be an upright individual firstly, or he may lose everything if one day the public finally see through his disguise. The experiences of two ex-presidents of America may serve as appropriate examples to strength my claim. Though Bill Clinton once believed that he would be impeached for his sexual scandal, the citizens of US finally choose to forgive their president when Clinton at last decided to tell everything to the public, and Bill still plays a significant role in the political arena up to the present. To the contrary, Richard Nixon had to leave the Whitehouse in shame for his foolish performance in the Watergate Scandal.

At last, in case a political leader realizes the fact profoundly that all his power is given by his supporters, he would never try to conceal information or people will be angry if one day they find out they have been cheated for a long time since all of his reputation, position and social status would become dust. Undoubtedly a portion of his personal leisure time would be thereby spent for explaining the facts for the public as the price of being honest, however it is what a politician has to endure provided that he wants to be a truly great leader.

To sum up, the stake may be too high to afford if our political leaders often choose to tell lies to their electorate. There is none authority that can operate healthily without the trust from the residents of its nation.

1. i am, better no abbreviation
2. Although I'm not pleased with the feeling of being a critic,( not related, feel redundant)

second paragraph.
you say you concede there is too much business. and? i expect that you something like "however, it does not justify that they conceal information when they hurt some people's interest" you just used a long paragraph saying that politicians conceal because they cannot please everyone and when they cannot, they chose not to tell. where is your opinion?

3rd

you say honesty is an desired quality for everyone. then you say that clinton was good and nixon was bad. you point is concealing a mistake is worse than making one. good enough for me. you have an opinion and you have examples.

4th,

not "in case", once is better.
first sentence is too long.
"since"? what is that? does not make sense. you mean "as a result"?

last paragraph,

you do not raise a new argument here 'There is none authority that can operate healthily without the trust from the residents of its nation." where is the support?

you can do better, jia you!
