The speaker contend that students should have skeptical or critical thinking whatever they are taught. I agree with the statement to some extent, claiming that critical thinking has undoubtable advantages, since it deepens our understanding about questions and leads to sum of significant innovations in academia
and strokes of inspiration in art creation. While on the onther hand,what we cannot ignore is that we should not view this issue from an extreme stand.

Being skepitical is not a radical way of thinking as argued and controverted in dabations but a logical thought process.It is always important for healthy skepticism to keep our minds open to new ideas, and to prevent us from becoming unthinking dogmatists wih no individuality. Moreover, the innovation and motivation brought by skepticism always attribute to the process in human history. In scientific fields, for instance, we own the discovery of the foundation of gravity by the falling body experiment commited by Galileo Galilei, which is based on the skepticism of Aristotle. And without the critical thinking of the geocentric theory, Coperinicus wouldn’t have prove the heliocentric theory, who are often regarded as the starting point of modern astronomy and the definingepiphany that began the scientific revolution in our day and age.Charles Darwin, widely known and respected as the originator of evolutionism by natrual selection, to explain the diversity of life more credibly, sprang his contribution from the doubt that whether God makes every creature on earth.

The value of skepticism is not limitted to the scientific academia, while in the realm of art creation, it plays an essential part as well. Focusing on the architecture in our modern times, the simple functional and appealing design of appearance, the precise exertion of modern materils especially maximizes the effects of space. All reforms in architecture design referred above, according to the theory and belif - “form ever follows the function”, advocated by Louis Sullivan who is also regarded as the Father of Modernism, are developed from the evolution in architecture design in Germany’s Bauhaus School of Architecture, deeply rooted in the skeptism of the trends of neoclassism in the late 19th century persuing the useless details and decoration instead.

In addtion, the absence of skeptiscism certainly obscure the development of society.I stongly believe that the lack of skepticism in chinese scientific history can be concluded as one of explainations for the misery, that why captalism had’t appeared in ancient China when there were sufficent materials, raised by Joseph Needham. Only skepticism playing an important part in creation of scientific fields instead of experimentation widely used and accepted in former dynasties, can the whole society be ready for the ultimately institutional reforms, which is always the weak point of we chinese people, the reason of whose existence owend to the historical traditions and social values lineaged for thousands years.

However, improper skepticism might be conterproductivein learning and teaching process. Effient and healthy skepticism and critical thinking should be built upon the foundation of the suffient and accurate understanging of basic knowledge and common rules. Otherwise, it’s meaningless to discredit or suspect something that we are not familiar with, saying nothing of to be inspired to create and explore. As we haven’t acquired the rudiment of physics, such an gravity, the theory of molecure, law of conservation, how can we managed to ask questions about the famous theory, the relativism of Elbert Einstern. And were not informed with the various philosophical theory in former times, Plato should’t innovate his mentor Socrates.

In conclusion, the assertion that studing with skepticism, under certain degree, is quite convincing and appealing, while over improper skeptimicism should’t be encouraged when students are taught, especially in the intial stage of learning.
