yanzi:Good morning ,sir!
vo:good morning! Will you go to ****?
Yanzi: yes, I will pursue my phd of computational mathematics there.
Vo: why chose ****?
Yanzi: It is recommended by my advisor. Our department has cooperation with **
**. The vice president –Pf. Ewing had visited our University and he is the ho
nor pf of our university. My advisor is familiar with him. He encouraged me to
learn more advanced knowledge of computational mathematics in ***** and come
back to further the research in our department..

Vo: what’s your major?
Yanzi: I major in computational mathematics.
Vo: computational mathematics? Why it is mathematics in yourI-20?

Yanzi: I don’t know the reason exactly. Maybe the department just write it.
Vo(不再纠缠): ok. Tell me something about computational mathematics.
Yanzi: Computational mathematics is a branch of applied mathematics. It is pri
marily concerned with blabla………….
Vo: why not pursue in Shandong Univ instead of in ******?
Yanzi: Frankly speaking, my advisor told me studying in US will greatly help m
e with my future in China. He is a success of this kind. In fact, many of prof
essors in our department have the experience of studying in US and they are in
the lead in our field in China. Maybe I am influenced by them. Many of papers
and articles I read is form the professors of US.
Vo: many of professors in your department had studied in US? How many?
Yanzi: About five or six.
Vo: It is not too many.
Yanzi: Well, it is only a part. Some of them go to US, some of them go to UK,
some of them go to Canada, Japan, HK. My advisor came back from US and succeed
ed in China. So he recommended me to study in US and come back to further the
research in China..
Vo: what will you do after you graduate from ******?
Yanzi: I want to be a professor in Shandong University, to do research work wi
th my advisor in the field of numerical analysis. My advisor is a returnee for
m US and now he is the top in his field in China. I believe with the advanced
knowledge from US , we will be pioneers in Chinese.
Vo: What about the salary for a pf in Shandong Univ?
Yanzi: About 4000/m.
Vo:4000/m? It’s not too much.
Yanzi: You know, salary is not all income for a researcher. A researcher has m
any ways to earn profit. For example, you succeeded finishing an industrial pr
oject, you will share more profit from it. Currently, the total income of my a
dvisor is about 100,1000 per year. It is enough to provide a comfortable life
in China.
Vo: do you have any supporting letter?
Yanzi: Yes,.This is the supporting letter from my current advisor, and these a
re some photos of us.
Vo(reading and thinking)
Yanzi: Sir, I also have a supporting from my future advisor, would you like to
have a look?
Vo:ok
Yanzi: here you are and this is his hompage..
Vo: Is he an American?
Yanzi:he is from Russia.
Vo: Why he did not come back to Russia instead of staying in US?
Yanzi: Well, I don’t know where he will go. It is not important for me. He is
my future advisor , I will study with him and he is excellent in our field, t
hese are what I care. Maybe he will go back to Russia, maybe he will stay in U
S. He has his own reason for his choice. I don’t know about it.
Vo: Oh, give me your G/T
Yanzi: here you are.
Vo: did you apply these universities on the sheet?
Yanzi: No. Actually, at that time, I did not decide which university I will go
to study. You know, this is an important choice for my future. I had visited
many univ’s website, studied their research work and courses. With the advice
for my advisor and my own consideration, I choose *****, I believe it is the
best suitable for me.
Vo:There is something wrong with my computer, I cannot print you name on it. W
ould you come here tomorrow?
Yanzi: ok. When should I come?
Vo: Anytime.
Yanzi: Sir, Do you mean you will issue my visa tomorrow?
Vo:yes
Yanzi: thank you, sir! Nice meeting you!
