The auther contents that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. I strongly believe that, when students learn what they need and what they are really interested in, they will be happier and more diligent than when they learn something assigned to them. Nevertheless, the auther has forgotten that education is not just related to the present, but also related to the future, exactly, from the very beginning of an education process to the end of it.

Admittedly, in a perfect effective education system, students can easily pursue knowledge they have not before, and it would be best if this studying process is full of pleasure and meaning. From this point, the suggestion mentioned by the auther is not all improper, because students can be quite content when they learn something necessary and absorbing. For example, little boys are usually naughty, so is my yonger brother Jim. Keeping attention to an object even in twenty or thirty minutes is nearly impossible for Jim. But recently, my family have found that Jim is able to concentrate for a long time when he either draws pictures alone or learns painting skills with other children. So, for young children, teaching them specifically what they really like is a more effective way to educate than forcing them to study something they have no needs for or interests in.

Educators, seemingly, have to invest plenty of time and energy in such individual education system. Well, people should support this method, if education is really as effective as showed in the above paragraph, at any essential cost. The fact is that, designing education to meet the individual needs and interests of each student can be effective temporarily. But it is not really effective for a long time. The reasons are as follows. On one hand, children’s hobbies will change over time. Suddenly falling in love with something may be caused by curiosity. When their curiosities have been met or they encounter other new objects, they will probably discontinue the study programs, which are designed for them individually and elaborately. On the other hand, students cannot understand this world comprehensively, so cannot they develop rational macroscopic thinking. Because they are taught what they want—just a small part of human beings’ knowledge—other than general systemic one. So, considering young children’s fluctuational interests and the limit of individual learning, education is not necssary to be effective when it is totally designed to meet each student’s needs and interests.

From my point of view, the proper way to make education effective may like this: the department of education drafts a general teaching plan, which includes fundamental classes, and students are required to attend in those classes. They are also provided choices to study individual hobbies with others, who have the same hobbies, under professional teacher’s guide.

In conclusion, to ensure education effective, designing it to meet each student’s needs and interests is not a wise idea, because individual needs and interests often change. and fractional knowlegde introduced to students should be extended.
