With the quickening pace of society, competition goes increasingly ruthless and relentless, imposing tremendous pressure on each and every individual. For this
reason, there are more and more parents coming up with the idea that children should be taught how to manage money at an early age in order to cultivate them
to become a financially responsible adult in the future. As far as I am concerned, I am inclined to this view.
Firstly, from the aspect of knowledge, it can, to a large extent, expand children's horizon and enrich their knowledge about finance or economy. Undoubtedly, the
knowledge children equip with will exercise a favorable influence on the formation of their financial brain in the future. This can be aptly exemplified and
illustrated by the case of Shi Yuzhu, who is a famous and rich man in China. When he was a child, his father would give him pocket money every month to let him
manage money by himself from 5 years old. As a result, from then on, he used this money to buy anything, which he regarded that was useful for him. At the same
time, he learnt a lot everytime he bought objects, such as pencil, knife and ruler. And the knowledge he learnt was, for example, what's the price of an object,
how to bargain with shopkeepers and so on. What's more, from the aspect of fostering abilities, it can nourish the managing and planning money ability effectively
and efficiently as well. When it comes to this, I can think of no better illustration than the example of me, which also reflects the advantage of managing money
at an early age. Just like what Shi Yuzhu's father did, my father would gave me pocket money every month, too. And my father told me to make a plan of using the
money at the beginning of every month. As a consequence, I would always calculate the amount of money I spent and make a design of how to use money. This measurement
urged me to become a planning and organized person now.
Secondly, it is the method of teaching children to manage money that enhance the own judgements of children as well, which will undeniably lay a solid foundation
for the financially responsibility. Further lending credence to my view is the example of me, too. As the above says, every time I got money from my dad, I would
make a plan to use this money to decide what to buy in this month and delay the plan of buying something in the next month. Gradually and eventually, I felt that
I could make a decision by my self and have a system of my own judgements.
Admittedly, there are also disadvantages of the measurement, too. For instance, if a child use this money to buy other useless things, it will serve as a catalyst
for the wasting habit of the child. Nevertheless, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Thus, I reinforce my perspective that people should be taught to manage
money at an early age. |
