11.15 Movies and televisions should always show audience good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished.

Is a happy ending, as heroes are rewarded and villains are punished, always what you want to see in the movies or televisions? I am afraid I don’t share this point of view. Although many people have a complex of virtue’s recompense and sin’s penalty, it is ideal, even unrealistic that all of movies and televisions show that.

We knew the world through movies and televisions, and they ought to show some realities. Virtually, we cannot undergo all the kinds of experience in the world. However, by watching movies, we know how other people live, just like lawyers, physicians, teachers, firemen etc. Do you think all their lives have happy endings? I don’t think so. There are laughs and tears, and there are comedies and tragedies. Undoubtedly/Granted, movies and televisions express special forms of real life, but they do come from real life. Since in reality not every good man gets recompense or bad man gets penalty, so do in the movies and televisions.

Furthermore, what is the unique standard that distinguishing good from bad? We are not living in the fairy tales, in which good man is always good and bad man is always bad. Just take Cinderella as example. It’s well known that Cinderella’s stepmother is a bad woman; however, she is just a mother who loves her own daughters more than stepdaughter, by considering other way. In the fairy tales, Cinderella’s stepmother got punishment finally; while in reality, many mothers want to do everything beneficial for their children, should they all be punished? (这个复杂句的连接有问题，但我不知道如何修改) There are not only black and white, but also gray in the world.

Yet another thing that should be taken into account is, I like evil man more than virtuous man. In some movies and televisions, in which virtue got rewarded and evil got punished, the characters are usually thin. On the contrary, movies and televisions which express more realities often model complicated characters. Such as T-bag in Prison Break, it’s a definitely evil man. Exceptionally, T-bag was one of the most favorable characters when Prison Break played. Why? There are several reasons, but the most important one is reality. T-bag is real, with humanity and sin, with love and hate. I love this kind of characters and movies, rather than those simply reward virtue and punish sin.

In reality, there is not the absolute justice can reward virtue and punish sin, and there is not simple standard can distinguish good from bad. Therefore, movies and televisions should not always show unreal judgment.
