Teksten/ Lyrics

Hieronder vindt je een selectie uit een aantal van mijn songteksten van nummers die te horen zijn op "Piranesi's Rome". Een paar daarvan zijn te beluisteren bij: Muziek.
Ik beschouw mezelf als een schrijver van fictie.
Below you will find the lyrics of a few songs that appeared on "Piranesi's Rome". You can listen to some of them on the Music page. I consider myself a writer of fiction.

Teksten/ Lyrics: Jacky the Stripper

Beneath The Streets

The tunnels
She's comfortable there
No need to live above ground anymore

And when it's cold?
She finds something to burn
Plastic bottles, old newspapers and wooden curls
You see her shadow on the wall's, where the fire's warm
She's safe in her concrete hole

She lives of the money people give
And eats the food they throw away
She cooks the rats very well
She has that look on her face
That she once had it all and lost even more
And she has a saying, it says

It's a thin line between where I am and you are
She's talking about protection
Murder and self-defence
She did kill a few men

No more fear
No more responsibilities
She turns her back on us all
And she mocks society
She's the one who's truly free
The first leaf to fall from the tree
It's living in first degree

Christmas Song

It's Christmas and his family's at home
They're waiting under the monstrous and flashy tree
He's drunk on Cuba Libres
He's in a cheap motel, bringing some whore to her knees

His little boy and girl; 4 and 6 years old
They're looking forward to daddy coming home
He's grasping both her tits now, rocking the bed
He's a coming, Santa's coming, oooh.

He's coming through the white crystal blizzard
And he'll be drunken mad, the whore hidden in his trunk
He'll bring his children their candy and presents
With a butcher's knife he cuts up their mum
Before he snaps their little necks with a blow from his gun

He's rocking, rocking like hell, screaming
"Fuck Chrismas, Santa's coming, ooooh."

Guneva's revenge

A friend visited me and he told this story about a young man who'd left his home
On his way to the big city, he stopped for a short break, near this riverbank

There the image of a young girl appeared in the water, her name Guneva
She wore a torn white dress, had golden locks, she told him about, long ago, in spring, how she
got murdered and all

She'd been lead to the bank by her fiancée
They would marry in a few day's
There he revealed his indecent intensions
She refused any action
In a frenzy he raped and drowned her
in a horrifying way

Chorus:
Revenge is mine
And on the way
O, boy, you're going to pay

Later that day the young man had dinner at a tavern
The only one in this small town on the way
He told the story of Guneva to the owner of the place
The man listened visibly tensed

After the tale the host broke down in tears
He told the following, he could barely speak
Years ago he'd lost a daughter with the same name
He'd never known why she 'd vanished that day in May

Chorus: 2X

The next morning
A woman hollered through town
A villager had been murdered that night
She'd found him gagged, tied and nailed to a chair
Someone had stabbed him at least a hundred and twenty times
The floor was soaked in blood
Body parts were missing
The killer a mystery
He hadn't left a trace
He'd made sure his victim, suffered like hell, and took the secret with him in the grave

Chorus: 2X

Gutter Dancing

Gutter Dancing
Tiptoeing through the mud
Singing, Singing in the Rain
Gutter Dancing
A dog's been shitting here
Wait 'till the rain washes away
Gutter Dancing
On one leg, on two hands
Sliding on your back
Breaking you neck
Gutter Dancing

Chorus: And they'll be looking for the stars
They'll be looking for the night
Looking for where you are

Paris: the city where they dance in the streets
Those little streams that run down hill
Gutter Dancing
Cheap wine is all you need
Gutter Dancing on Montmartre Hill
Miller's been putting hiss dick in some pretty girl's ass
Gutter Dancing, Gutter Dancing
On the outskirts of society
Dancing the Chinaski, dancing the Miller
Gutter Dancing

Chorus:

Dancing even sillier
Sludge
Sewage

A metropolitan symphony
A bum's poem
Clochards' song
Gutter Dancing, Gutter Dancing
Do the bird, do the Chinaski, do the Miller
Je suis une artiste, je suis insane, call me Gutter Crazy
I live on black ink, on greasy blue oil paint
Gutter Dancing

Chorus:

2 minutes

I had two minutes to make up my mind
Should I go left, should I go right?
A little joke like that, is just my style
But, never underestimate the power of lying

Harry was a man who never did what he said
His promises were lies only time could comprehend
When he fell in my hands, I fucked him up good
And after that, he told me all that he knew

True Mafioso have a truckload of tales
Most of them about how the world works these days
But also the ones about those ancient times
When men had honour and money didn't make blind

The writer tells the tale from A to Z
Without ever revealing what it all means
It's not in the pen
Not in the machine
It's hidden in the white, in the back, in between

In my songs I turn into what I truly want to be
A perfect dressed killer
A smart Cosa Nostra thief
With a million in cash and another ten within reach
In the chorus my name is praised as a cry of relief

Jacky the stripper

In the morning, it seemed the dates had been poisoned
I found her: cold, laying on the bed, the stones in her hand
Maybe if I had given her some figs instead
She'd still be among the living

I fled by plane to the other side of the world
And emerged into this vast city
Nobody would have found me there between the concrete and steel
But they send their best hound to catch me
Specialized in tracking misfits like myself down
My disguise could not mislead my pursuer
He seized me in some strip joint while I was putting notes in the panties of this girl
I'd just met her

She'd been working hard
Showing her equipment and all
Me and her had an understanding
I was sure to meet her after the show
To have some quality time
I arranged this, just blinking my eyes

He took me outside
And cuffed my hands
Put a blindfold on
He dragged me along by my hair
And he hit me with a wooden club
He almost broke my ribs every time
he pulled my hair out

Then I heard a lotta noise
Like someone was beating the shit out of another
I couldn't see squad
I was as blind as a bat
Another loud bang
The cracking of a skull
A hand ripped off the cloth
My heart grew soft
The girl had kept her unspoken promise
That night she was all over

We've been together quite a time now
Fugitives who roam the planet covering their tracks
Two pure soul mate lovers
Who've sworn to stick together till the bitter end
Ghosts disguised as humans who vanish after you only caught a glimpse of them

John MacCrow

John MacCrow was a bad man
And when he drank, it got even worse
He'd beat up every- and anyman
It was said that he was cursed

His pa drank and beat his mother
That's what he saw, that's what he did
And he'd also beat his children
Cause that's the way he remembered it

His life a tribute to death and violence
His father murdered, his mother raped
His brother tortured, mutilated and burned
His children were all sick and his wife had left

Yes, he was cursed, he knew for sure
He packed his stuff and left for good
He traveled around, worked where he could
And when there was no money, he just worked for food

And he left a trail of dead bodies
Little girls all raped and shot
And old men, robbed of their money
And all kinds of others
Strangled, drowned and cut

There was one man: Jim D.
Determined to catch him
He followed the trail
But John moved fast
He tried to solve, to find a pattern
There was something, connecting the many dead

It was the liquor, a strong Bourbon
And it was sold in just a few states
That's why John, moved around in circles
When he ran out of bottles
He stopped to fill and kill

The stuff made him a killer
The stuff made him mad
Jim D. caught up and found this bad man
But John MacCrow was not born to surrender
He took his chances, but Jim D. was faster

His six-gun ended it all
His six-gun ended it all

Milk & blood

Henry went out to get some groceries
At the K-mart on 2nd an 63
A loaf of bread and a case of beer
Shampoo and a box of chicken wings
And bottles of milk, lots of milk
Low-fat milk, a lot of milk
He liked milk so much
He drank it every day, all the time

Henry paid for the stuff and went outside
He bought a newspaper on the street
And as he walked, he read the front page
It was bad news all over; the photo's the same
About war, about children being beaten
About genocide and about money
People dying in some corrupt country
People dying for black oil
People dying because they were born
And he felt bad, he felt so bad 2x
He felt so bad that he didn't see
The cars as he crossed 63

Chorus:

Henry is now dead and gone
He won't drink no milk no more
Henry is dead and gone
He won't drink no milk no more
He's lying in a pool of milk and blood
A pool of milk and blood he's lying in
He died covered in milk and blood
Milk and blood cover dead Henry

I recall him saying thirsty as a dog on a hot day a year ago
"Man I'd die for a glass of milk"
Congratulations Henry, you did what you said

Chorus:

Sadness

You're mocking my shadow
The sad man I really am
My grief is profound and selfish
Another chapter in my DNA

Yes it's true that you're just another girl
Passing me on her way
O sure we can be lovers
Meaning; lost forever

True lovers never find each other
They die alone, knowing that somewhere
Someone is leaving too
They meet at the gate of heaven

My sadness, that melancholy smile
Is a melody down on its knees
Is a love poem scattered in the wind
Is a painting, the colours drowning in the rain

Beyond sadness is unknown
It's where the sun pierces through the snow 2x

But true lovers never find each other
They die alone, knowing that somewhere
Someone is leaving too
They meet at the gates of heaven

Song

You better head for the bedroom
You look awfully tired
You're beautiful when you're half asleep
With a little spit sitting in the corner of your mouth

Remember the video we rented
It ended about two hours ago
Since then, I've been reading this book
As you can see, I'm halfway now

Yeah I think you should read it
It's about this girl who's weary and sad
She sleeps for a hundred years
When she awakes, everyone she loves is dead

Chorus: I wrote a poem about this princes
And a tale about this prince
In fact, it's a song
And I'm singing it

You bet I'm curious about what's to come
So I better stay here reading
Put some music on that is soothing
And let you know in the morning how the story ends

So you better wake up tomorrow
And not dream for a hundred years or more
Cause then I'll be dead for some time
And you'll have to read the book yourself

Chorus: 2x

Goodnight
Sleep well
Goodnight

When Sal met Henry

On a trip from east to west
I got stuck in this forsaken City
To kill the time
I fled into a bar
Where I met two men (just) like me

One was a genius drunk
Who's poetry was as deep as the deepest of seas
It looks shallow at first sight
'till you discover the in-betweens
I forgot to mention his name
It was Henry, Henry C

Then Sal; the other one
He's the quiet type
Also far from normal
But doesn't take it to the edge
He also works the typewriter
And travels from friend to friend
I thought I'd met him before
but was wrong about that

The three of us spilled poetry, washing
our mouths with stale beer and whiskey
I remember some of the words
full of drunken melancholy,
sad but briskly
A poem of hope
An outsiders dream
Spitting you guts in the gutter
Crawling on bloody knees
The next day I took my train
I never met them again
No not ever

I don't know when I'll be coming home
I really need the wandering
One day I'll end on your doorstep baby
But don't you go thinking that's a promise

Girlfriend Blues

She talks about friendship
She talks about romance
About the crap you see in films
And she gets pissed off when I don't understand

She tells me she's depending
And again it's about me
But I've been with a some girls, who all twisted and turned
Seeing things I don't see

Chorus: Girlfriend Blues, Girlfriend Blues
I got nothing to lose
Girlfriend Blues

I guess she's frustrated
To be in love with a guy like me
One that expects nothing, and wants even less and
who's satisfied with the beauty he sees

Freedom comes with the decision
To decide nothing at all
I love you now baby, that's all I know
Nothing is forever, except maybe our souls

Chorus:

I don't have a problem
With the temporary
I can't remember when it began
And I can't see no end
So I guess this state's just temporarily

So I say:"Let's talk about friendship.
Let's talk about next week."
Maybe we can leave for a couple of day's
Try to have some fun
Now what'd you say?"

Chorus:

Teksten/ Lyrics: Piranesi's Rome

Piranesi's Rome

I was in Piranesi's Rome
Saw the ruins, saw the decay
The shadows on the once so glorious marble
Are shadows from the past
The aqueducts bring dust and oblivion
Center of the world, a spider in its web
Now the weeds travel the infinite roads
The emperor's laberinth's gone with the wind
I travel through Rome, covered in ink
The needle in my hand, the marble waiting
I'm an admirer from a lost age
The drawings are all I have today

It's where Jupiter was banished after a carpenter's quest
Who's following undermind the authorities
From secret thombs beneath the city
The crowd still roars in the colloseum
Where poor souls beg for their lives
In the arena of death, in Piranesi's Rome
Glorified

Mike's Junkyard

Mike where's my bike
I really need to see my mama
She's sad, cause dad's gone away
And my brother's in the asylum
And grandma is gone
Mike I really need my bike
where is it

I hope the tire's ain't flat
The chain's not rusty and broken
Cause it's a long way to the house
Where I was born
Mike show me my bike
Lead me through the mud and junk
You've shaped rusty mountains
And cave's on tourist wheels
And those small black pools
You laid out all over the place
More poisonous than acid rain

It's like you divide the colours
Of the gutter with a prism
And compose them again
In your own fantastic and messy way
O but please Mike, my bike
I really need it today
Mike, I really need my bike today
Mike, I really need my bike today

Danceduet

You're my high voltage stimulation
You twist and grind in a good vibration
You free me from my chains
My electrical salvation
Twist your cord around me
To the point of suffocation
Then touch me
With your acceleration
While I gasp for breath
Danceduet

And when you hurt me
Out of frustration
I scream in agony
Wearing my gloves and safetyglasses
And my overalls
While your speed slackens
And singing lowers to a fading pitch
Till you're still, a lifeless tool
Danceduet
While I gasp for breath

Primevil Writer

I remember our cave
The stories, the fire
The hunt drawn on the wall
Coming to life
Later on school
I learned to write on paper
With a pen I put my thoughts down
As an adult
I bought a typewriter
I wrote in trains
Plains
In the back of a cab
I was a singer then
But I grew tired
Of all that traveling
And in my house
In a small room
On the first floor
On the desk near the window
I placed one of those blue screens
That write while I talk
Words seemed to have no meaning
Untill they are spoken
Ink dries up
Paper rots away
But my mouth
Is never shut

Bob

Bob
He's sitting in the back
With the thing on his lap
Smoking and writing
With the speed of the road
I ain't no fan of his lyrics
Never liked the tones they embrace
But the foto tells me the story
About the artist and his way's
He's driving and writing
On gasoline ink

He went down the stairs
And put some coins in the slut
Down falls a cola and not a sprite
A small redhead is staring at him
With a frozen face
She say's
He can't buy cola there
He's not in his place
He asks her why
And she tells him:"because!"
And he tells her
He fucks little girls
Like her
For breakfast

Black

My lyrics are so black
You need a flashlight to read them
Murder is fun with the right tools
And spagetti
Blood with confetti
Mr. Minetti
The eight feet killer
Black canaval's shadow dancer (cancer)

His depressions
Psychedelic movietrips
Violent sexs
Soaked in African drums
And native singing
Ritual swinging
She did not even scream
When he put the drill in her head

He's the father she never had
And like all of them
She has the love he'll never get

What apocalypse
Descends upon us now
Mr. Black
Your myth a legend
Your shadow knowledge
Your belief a religion
Slaughter and black doom
With the emphasis on evil
Death will come soon

Your crusade
An example for humanity
Ill with greed
Their saliva
On the stacks of green paper
In front of them (Is your mind a freakshow?)

The world upside down
Is a fish
Swimming
The ocean aquarium
The boar and the tree
My mystical friends
In the forest
Where the owl sings aloft
I'm searching beneath the leaves
The mole's labyrinth
