Printed books have greater effects on society than television has.

With significant development of science and technology, there seemly appears a trend that the throne of traditional media are soon to be overthrown by the mushrooming modern media, so that it is doubted that television, the representative of the novel media will excess the influence of printed books on society.
However, printed books, in my opinion, enjoy unique and dominant impact on society, which will not be surpassed by TV, for the following reasons.
The major reason, I supported books, is that books, especially printed, stands for some crucial thoughts of the society. Though, such thoughts possibly occur via some television, it is the books systemically demonstrate the gist, derivates and consequences of these ideas, which lead to the change of society.
In addition, the greater influence of printed books lies in the attention of the public cast on them. As most channels pursue profit, the contents of TV mainly consist of talk show, soap series, which are aimed at entertainment, which thus will not be taken seriously. In contrast, as the purpose of books is to inspire, people always pay vast attention to the information on the books, which cast greater impact on the society.
On conclusion, as the distinct aims and features of the books and television, printed books own larger effect on society than television.
