Issue outline
5"A nation should require all its students to study thesame national curriculum until they enter college rather than allow schools indifferent parts of the nation to determine which academic courses tooffer."
1. Forsmall countries, it is may be reasonable to execute this policy but not for thebigger ones.
2. Thedifferent culture requires different kinds of education and forms variouspersons’ characters.
3. The economiccondition may restrict some academic courses be taught.

63"To truly understand your ownculture—no matter how you define it—requires personal knowledge of at least oneother culture, one that is distinctly different from your own."
1.Observator may be clearer about the situation than participator.
2.Comparison helps us to find out the distinguished characters of our culture.
3.
Other culture forces people to consider theirown.

94"Universities should requireevery student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of studybecause acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way tobecome truly educated."
1. Itis necessary to known something outside the student’s field of study, but thequantity should be weighted.
2. Thebenefit of this policy.
3.Disadvantage for students to finish so many courses.
4.Maintain our own field of study, the others’ could be added but not trustedinto our minds.

Argument Outline:
11The following appeared in a memo fromthe mayor of the town of West Egg.

"Two years ago, our consultants predicted that West Egg's landfill, whichis used for garbage disposal, would be completely filled within five years.During the past two years, however, town residents have been recycling twice asmuch aluminum and paper as they did in previous years. Next month the amount ofmaterial recycled should further increase, since charges for garbage pickupwill double. Furthermore, over ninety percent of the respondents to a recentsurvey said that they would do more recycling in the future. Because of ourresidents' strong commitment to recycling, the available space in our landfillshould last for considerably longer than predicted."
1. Just mentioned the recycling, ignored the factthat production of garbage is the key decided the available space for disposal.
2. The amount of material recycled cannot be predicted,it depends.
The investigation may not be scientific logical. The respondents could be the ones whose lives rely on the recycling, and the numberof them was not revealed to us.

12The following appeared in a memo from a vicepresident of Alta Manufacturing.

"During the past year, Alta Manufacturing had thirty percent moreon-the-job accidents than nearby Panoply Industries, where the work shifts areone hour shorter than ours. Experts believe that a significant contributingfactor in many on-the-job accidents is fatigue and sleep deprivation amongworkers. Therefore, to reduce the number of on-the-job accidents at Alta andthereby increase productivity, we should shorten each of our three work shifts byone hour so that our employees will get adequate amounts of sleep."
1. The intrinsic reasons for fewer accidents in Panoply industriesmay not because of the shorter working hours.

The workers can be more skilled and equipments forsecurity guaranteeing are more advanced.
2. Employees could not spend the free hours tosleep.
------------------------------

13The following appeared in a memo from the chiefexecutive of a video game company.

"We have recently been offered the opportunity to buy the rights toproduce a video game based on the soon-to-be-published children book"Squirrel Power," by Peter Wood. While the cost of the rights issubstantial and will place economic constraints on our company in theshort-term, there are two reasons that the purchase of these rights willundoubtedly be a wise investment. First, Wood's last three books have been bestsellers and the movie based on his first book was highly profitable. Second, the popular characters and story line in "Squirrel Power" will saveus time in developing our video game, thereby reducing our costs."
1. There is a large different between movie and video game.

2. Wood’s last three books’ success means nothingto do with the “squirrel power”.
3. The popular charactersand story line may fatigue the game player.
