Laboratory Science PhD

各位大侠 小妹医学检验出身  想去美国深造  今天在浏览网页时  猛然发现 罗德岛大学和美国天主教大学 开设Laboratory Science PhD（MS）的课程 并也在学校的介绍里 了解到 有中国的前辈们 就读  。 现在正在思考一些问题，希望大侠前辈们指教：
1 这两个大学 额 是在在此之前 实在是没听说过。换句话说 就是知名度不高。不知道这两个大学在美国的口碑如何？
2 这个专业在生物学院下面，但与临床挂靠，申请起来是不是 还是那句：医学类，难于上青天~？
3 这种名气不高的学校，奖学金方面是不是很困难呢？是不是说申请到奖学金（fellowship）接近impossible

1.英文是什么？
2.难不难取决于你的背景和它们的招生标准，很难说。是不是和临床挂钩，得看它们专业设置是什么样的，这一点学校网也必然有写吧。说实话还真头一次听说这个方向的PhD。鼓锣寡闻了，从字面上看不出来到底学什么的。

如果是罗得岛大学的话 也就是 URI，那还是不错的。

类似这种都是professional的，不是搞科研的，这种一般是100%自费的。
至于出路，不好说。

PHD应该都是搞科研的，所以不知道楼主说的是哪一个。不过无论哪一个，学校主页上面肯定有介绍。

这是罗德岛大学里的要求： 貌似 中国学生不能申请是么？好像有个要求不符合。

Admission Requirements:

Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for admission into the Graduate Clinical Laboratory Science Program:

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college with a major in medical technology/clinical laboratory science, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related area, and at least one course in statistics.
Certification (or certification eligibility) by a nationally recognized certifying agency (such as NCAMLP, ASCP, NRM, NRCC, etc.) as a generalist or specialist clinical laboratory scientist, or a minimum of one year of post-baccalaureate clinical laboratory experience.
Official scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are recommended, but not required.
Up to 6 credits may be transferred for course work completed at the graduate level with a grade of "B" or better at other accredited institutions of higher learning.
A maximum of 12 credits of work taken at the University of Rhode Island in non-degree status may be applied toward degree requirements if the student is later admitted to a degree program.
A maximum of 6 credits may be allowed for competency based on experience gained outside the traditional academic setting and demonstrated by examination or equivalent

The purpose of the M.S. in clinical laboratory science is to prepare
students for teaching, research and administrative careers. The
purpose of the Ph.D. program in clinical laboratory science is to
prepare individuals to assume positions as directors of clinical
laboratories, as researchers, or as faculty of medical technology
programs.
Students in both programs receive a broad background in basic
sciences, biomolecular sciences and clinical laboratory sciences.
M.S. students then continue their studies, specializing in education,
laboratory management or research. Ph.D. students may complete
their dissertation research in CUA’s Department of Biology or at one
of the affiliated hospitals or research institutions, including the
National Institute of Health (NIH), Children’s National Medical
Center, George Washington University Medical Center and
Washington Hospital Center.

第一个，URI的话，是professional定向的，肯定是自费了，当然不排除你非常牛拿fellowship或者抢到个TA啥的。如果你国内临床工作过一年的话应该可以申请，否则要accrediate。具体怎么accrediate网上找吧。

第二个，CUA，俺实在是不熟悉。这个也说了，MS为了teaching，PHD为了做research或者给主人级的进修用。一般来讲咱们新来的学生和主任级别的差距有点大。纯teaching的话，说实话不是那么好找工作的，估计也需要点工作经验之类。但是PHD作research倒是不是不可以。这个有机会拿TA，拿到的话也许是全奖吧，毕竟PhD 5年，全自费还是蛮多的。同时，注意最后作research都不是在自己的department，所以没有RA，也就是说没有像样的实验室和funding。

恩，如果这里指的是检验的话，确实是有一大部分和Pathology很像。到一定程度上的难作的诊断才会用到Pathologist。

恩 我原本被这个专业录取了 还是bachelor of medicine学位的 后来想想还是去了免疫 不知道是对还是错
不过我知道我要是去那个专业估计MD就彻底没戏了 2年70个学分读下来我就可以去死了
