While the statement claimed that the study and understanding of the past is somewhat irrelevant to the further progress in the contemporary living,the speaker absolutely overlooked the essential fact that what the current society have achieved would be somehow the crucial part of the history.Similarly,the past would also serve as the fundamental component of the history and therefore the connection between the past and contemporary seems to be much closer than anyone who ignore the importance of deep understanding of the past can imagine.Thus,such statement is too extreme and fail to recognize the crucial role of the history as guideline to the contemporary living.

First of all,it is undeniable that with the rapid development of many fields and many aspects of the society itself,the changing speed of contemporary social trends and public value and interest tend to be even continuously accelerated.people lived in the modern society might find it more and more difficult to catch up with the rapid change of the mainstream trends of society and humanity.Thus while the difficulty of successfully integrating into the contemporary society tend to be more and more difficult,it is not surprising that  the importance of understanding of the history in-depth are widely neglected.For instance,since the very introduction of the Internet and the boom of computer science have enormous impact on the society,the modern society in whole are under the completely exposure to the information explosion,which not only offer the great opportunity of knitting the world even more closer and widely access to the huge amount of information,but also lead to the horrible change of social value system and contemporary perspectives on various social problems which ultimately account for the instability of the modern society.While the information explosion deeply distract the mainstream public attention from the study of past and history,people fail to gain the crucial guidance for solving the very modern social problems.

The evidence that firmly advocate my fundamental opposition against the statement is multiple.With the rapid worldwide spreading of the Internet and computer technology mentioned above,the certain new form of entertainment,the video game,for instance,became popular among the majority of youth.However, since many negative incidences which might somewhat resulted from the rapid development of the market of video game,such as serious illegal behaviour and  brutal murders conducted by youth who claimed that those crime conduction were largely enlightened by the violated scene in the video games,which lead to the widely oppression and restriction that impede the further development of the market of video game.However,when we  review the history,we may find that the initial development of film industry also suffered from the similar problems and ultimately overcome such myopias.As well as the video game,the film also included various unhealthy factors such as violation,sex and so forth,but like the video game it also provide a fantastic way of entertainment and indeed lead to various uproar of social concerns,which indeed represented the mainstream value and interest of the public.If the  importance of such understanding of past not be ignored,such obstacle on the path toward further development of the video game would absolutely not appear.

In sum,although it is undeniable that the accelerating speed of change of society and humanity indeed keep the modern people from further their comprehensively and thoroughly understanding of the history,the important fact that the history indeed serve as the crucial role in guiding and stimulating the advancement of society and humanity  cannot be simply ignored.otherwise we risk suffering repetitive obstacle on the path toward further social advance.
