Therefore, compared with the permanently lasting wisdom, the pursuit of a fair look appears to be valueless. I believe, against the statement, great thoughts reflecting intelligence of human exhibit much more significance than good looks and dresses.


The first reason I must emphasize is that what indeed stimulates the development of modern society is inspiration resulting in the advancement of science and technology. Ideas, the fruit of deep and constant thinking, bring about multitudes of crucial inventions for humanity like steam engine, phone, computer and Internet. They significantly gratify the people¡¯s demand of material. Besides, the invention of phonograph and projector using in theater to play a movie satisfy the mental and cultural need for human. In a word, beauty turns pale and weak before(¸Ð¾õcomparedºÃЩ) the intelligence of human.

Unlike inspiration, the crystallization of wisdom, beautiful appearance sometime accompanies with disasters. It is not difficult to find the stories that beauties cause misery and ruin in£¨¿ÉÒÔ²»ÓüÓin°É£© a variety of cultures. For instance, in the Greek myth, Helen, whose look has no parallel at that time, is the source of Trojan War. Similarly, in ancient China, a woman with over attractive look was regarded as flood causing trouble to an individual or country. With the gradually accelerating pace of modern society, efficiency turns to perform its significance more and more. Employees often suffer a requirement of ability to accomplish as many tasks as possible in a short period of time. In this case, a substantial number of people misunderstand the actual meaning of efficiency so that quality, which is indeed meaningful, is lost. Therefore, to stress the nearly forgotten importance of quality, I really advocate that every project deserves all one¡¯s effort toward it.

The first reason can be indicated through a fable widely known among Chinese children: a kitty went fishing with his mum but was attracted by a butterfly around, so he ran after it. After a while, with the advent of a dragonfly, he turned to pursue it, leaving the fishing rod and the butterfly behind. As a result, without any surprise, he went home with nothing while his mother obtained a pail of fish. What the story indicates is the essentiality of concentration. In conclusion, a person who fixes all his or her attention on only one matter achieves goals more easily and quickly compared to those who diffuse their energy.

On the other hand, devoting oneself in one project promotes the quality of the fruit as well. This point would be inferred from a variety of life stories of masters, scientists, or else great men or women. For instance, Van Gogh¡¯s whole life was involved in painting though his works were worth nothing when he was alive. Moreover, mainstream of society at that time even regarded him as a madman. However, he had never thought of a switch of his career. Thanks to this, so much precious artwork is left for us to appreciate. Similarly, it is not difficult to envision that what the agriculture of China will£¨¿ÉÒÔÓÃwould°É£© be if Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice, did not focus on his experiment. In a word, only wholehearted irrigation can make nice fruits.


Take all these factors into account, an open sesame to success will not be a secret any more. It is concentration that makes a lot of sense to ensure the efficiency and quality. Therefore, finishing the assignment one by one is definitely better than diffusing attention to different ones. However, for those who care little about quality, what I have stated may be a senseless talk.

PIn China, an old saying goes:" A good apprentice always has a strict master", which does represent the attitude of ancient Chinese towards education. In oriental culture, a student, who is constantly set a high demand on would incline to be more than he or she can be. I am quite in favor of this view and believe, an exact educator indeed works more effectively than a mild one.

The first reason I must emphasize is that a rigorous and serious teacher means efficient instructions and a(È¥µô±È½ÏºÃ) lower tolerance of improper behaviors. A simple example from me can serve to illustrate the point. I always received forthright criticism, which helped me improve my grades and remove shortcomings on my own initiative, from the class advisor in the first two years in primary school. However, I encountered a switch of primary school in Grade three so there came a new advisor with mild temper. She had tried her best to allude to my defects but I never considered them carefully, reasoning that her indirect way led to my misunderstanding of seriousness of problems. In conclusion, as the adage says,¡± Whip may be hurt but paves the road to success¡±.

Furthermore, those teachers, who are apparently hard to approach, can also warm their students. Take my former advisor for instance, though burdened with a heavy teaching task, she still spared as much time as possible to take care about a student from single parent family from life to study. Therefore, even if someone in class feared her, all of us were aware of the fact that she devoted herself to educate us. For this matter, some people, who insist that serious instructors cannot be able to neither affect others nor leave a good impression, may be totally wrong.  \* O! y7 r$ v2 S* m

Comparing the£¨those£©two kinds of teacher, no one can deny that a mild-mannered teacher press less.
