Undoubly, the study of history has a significant influence on our daily lives ,as the speaker said .However, I take exception with that idea that only when it can be take practice into our material
lives does the study of history have value.
Admittedly, humans have benefit a lot from the history, especially when it comes to the field of technology ,in which many inventions
inherit from the past innovation. A classic example that can apparently prove this point can be provided by the invention of television .In 1884 Paul Nipkow, a 23-year-old university student, created the first electromechanical television system called scaning disk.A few years later ,inspired by the Paul's scaning
disk ,scottish inventor Baird demonstrated the transmission of moving image in london and untimately invented the world's first
real television. Albeit nowadays the manufacture of television becomes so easy for us, without Paul's scaning disk,it would have been hard for Baird to design such a standard television and we would have to wait the tv more time.
Although it is a direct and valid way to benefit human that put history into the reality, does it necessarily mean that history has value merely when it is linked to reality? If so, people who insist this may come into the material-worship misconception. It is a waste of effort, they may suggest, to study a subject such as history which bears only a
subjective relation to reality. They may think that the money is the world's most important thing and nothing can be compared with it. If the study of history can't produce the economic benefits and something help make a fortune,it would be of no use. That notion would be harmful and pose a potential threaten to the favorable public moral climate.
Besides the horizontal exaltation in people physical life by the study of history,in my view ,the exploration of history also helps lift our spirit and make one become a great thinker .Thomas Jefferson once said "history by apprising us of the past will avail us of the experience of other times and nations, will enable us to judge of the future ,will quality us as judges of the actions and designs of men."According to what he said, we can see that history can help us make better choice and achieve success when we face the problems in the future .In reference to the history ,we can learn much and build our healthy personality.

No matter whether the study of history is directly related to people daily life ,it is valuable on the basis that it can help people shape a healthy personality and character.
