The argument is well-presented, but not well-reasoned. The author recommends the citizens of clearview town to vote for Ann green instead of Frank Braun by put a considerable emphasis on the protecting of environment .It seems that logic because environmental problems are really of importance to people daily life.
However, the speaker is failing to take into account the other possible causes to the local worsen environment. Such causes may include the fact that some dirty factories are build in the neighbouring town and the waste gas are blowed to clearview town by wind, which mainly result in the increased air pollution levels. Again the 25 percent more patients with respiratory illness may be made up of the citizens of other towns who are seeking the better treatment in clearview hospital.
In addition, even if the current government ignores to protect the environment ,it can’t convince me of bolstering the Ann Green .In terms of environmental protect, the argument assumes that Frank Braun is not a environmentalist because he is the member of current government. Yet the speaker fails to offer any evidence to substantiate this crucial assumption. Absent such evidence, it is possible that Frank strongly object to the policies that pose a potential threaten to the local environment but his suggestion hasn’t adopted by his party. He would take strict measures to prevent the environment from destruction if he were elected the next mayor .On the other hand, perhaps, Perhaps Green , a member of Good Earth Coalition, would introduce more factories irrespective of whether these factories would pollute the environment. Overall, according to what the speaker said, we can’t easily tell the two elector’s attitudes to environmental protection.
Admittedly, environment is very important to one city’s survive and the health of people there, however, we can not only judge a elector by his attitude to environmental protecting .It is possible that the clearview town is a very poor town, residents there are eager to
make a living and they would rather elect a leader who can help rid them of the poverty than help protect the environment .Also, the citizens may worry about the local rampant violence and they need a just and hawkish leader to keep the order.
In conclusion , the recommend that citizens in clearview town should vote for Green instead of Fank is not well supported. Before any decisions are made, people should evaluate all possible factors including not only the environment but also the society order , the local economy and so on.
