The speaker indicates in the statement that without being related to our daily lives, history doesn't have any value. I cannot accede to this claim for that history has so much value not only in the aspect relevant to our daily lives.(这句看看有没问题,怪怪的) We should take comprehensive study of it in order to better build up our present world.
Admittedly, history that is relevant to our current work serves as the perfect guidance and handbooks. We are able to learn valuable lessons and acquire precious experiences from it in order not to make the same mistake or to waste time on underserved efforts thus finding the best way to solve problems. For example, before a company leader makes a crucial decision, it's necessary for him to study the company's history of development and learn about what his forerunners do in the similar situation. From the successful or unsuccessful decisions they made and how these decisions effected the company's development, he can clearly understand the current state so as to make a wise decision. Likewise, a scientist also need to research what have already been achieved in history in the area that is closely related to his current research. Only by this way can they fully comprehend the situations he is confronted with and avoid wasting time in some repetitive and useless work. That's why Newton say that "if I have seen further than certain other men, it’s by standing upon the shoulders of giants." For these figures, history is a mirror which calls back previous experiences to help them get clear understanding of the current situation and the study of history is the source of inspirations and guidance to their own success in daily lives.
However, the study of history, which may be not directly associated with our daily lives also have a great value. As I see it, studying a country's historic progress is a perfect way to comprehend a unit's national spirit which can be helpful to overcome difficulties met at later time. One apt illustration of this point involves the study of the War of Resistance Against Japan in Chinese history. Though military hardware and the soldiers' qualities of these two countries can not be compared at that time, people of different parts of China cooperated to make a joint effort thus getting the victory of the war ultimately. From this war, we can see the outstanding national spirits such as optimism, braveness, cooperation and never giving up of Chinese people. It's these characters that inspire us to fight against the following disasters like floods, SARS, Wenchuan Earthquake and so forth. Chinese people benefit from these national spirits and are sure to make China a stronger country with a stable society and prosperous economy by learning these national spirits from such seemingly irrelevant history.
In addition, apart from learning national spirits from history, we can also find other latent value in history irrelevant to our daily lives when it becomes the quest for our ancestry and derivation. Undoubtedly, the study of the Roman Laws, the Renaissance, the culture and life style of the medieval times, even the Paleolithic or Neolithic civilization and so forth has no bearings in the modern society, but it demonstrates our origin and how we have come this far to become who we are today. Such value is beyond our corporeal life and aimed at replenishing our spirit and mind. With its help, our identities are thus discovered, and the emptiness of our heart truly replenished.
To sum up, the study of history has value whether it’s relevant to our lives or not. Albeit in the area that related to our daily lives, such value can be more easily noticed by people, it do exist elsewhere. The society can be pushed forward in a more beneficial way only when people view history in a much broader way.

改楼上的~~~
In this issue the author(好像在哪看到过说issue里面最好不要用author) announces that the study of history has value only when it is relevant to our daily lives; however, I disagree with the author. In my point of view, the study of history has many other values when associate with the other objects.(个人觉得开头可以再改进下哈~这样看都有点像argu了)
Admittedly, we cannot neglect the significant value of studying history which is relevant to our daily lives. Most of us want to be successful in the future, but how to do? The autobiography of the famous people such as Beethoven and Bill Gates, sets us clear and concrete examples. The study of their stories can sometime encourage and refine us in many ways. It can galvanize us to strive for our dreams. (我觉得可以详细讲一下他们的传记是怎样影响我们的,至少选一个把例子展开论述,显得更有说服力哈)What is more, it is human nature to longing for a peaceful world. The study of the war history can remind us the cruelty of the war and help us to avoid making the same mistake. These evidences undoubtly help uncover the benefits to study history both for individuals and nations.(感觉这一段的论述展开的不大好,都是泛泛而谈,显得很空洞。。也不是怎么切合论点,嗯。。可以稍稍改进下哈)
However, despite the merits mentioned above, the advantages to study history involves not only in our daily lives, but also in the realm of many branches of scientific researches. The approach for the human to accumulate knowledge is by means of recording in the books or something. We hand the research results from generations to generations and eventually it becomes the reference to other scholars. History is replete with ample evidence to demonstrate this point. A notable case in (this)point refers to Galileo, the Italian physicist, who conducted the experiment at the famous leaning tower of Pisa. The record of this research handed down to Newton, who eventually summed up in the Newton's second motion law on the basis of that experiment. That is to say the hypothesis or the result of the researches become histories as time goes by, and become the valuable and useful tool for the researchers latter on.(这段例子什么的挺切合的,展开的也挺好,但一直都是平铺直叙,显得有些单调,以后写的时候多变化变换句式,用用从句什么的。。。。)
Although history has many values in various of aspects. The rapid change of technological advance has made many historical events do not work out smoothly in the modern world. So, overextended study of the history might be indeed wasting time and energy. Many principles and laws summarized in the past history defunct, as the science develops in an unbelievable speed. Let us bring our discussion here to a more present and practical context, it can be given a concrete example:(中国式英语) the Moore's law which says the computer processing power will be doubled in every 18 month, will defunct in the near future thanks to the inguity of the engineers and advanced technologies. Additionally, in the river of history we often held big events to sacrifice oxen to god in hope for a good weather or no more floods and diseases. But the history does(is) not suitable for us now, for we have developed the man-made satellites to do weather forecasts and many other effective methods to prevent floods and diseases. Simply put, the study of the out-of-date histories cannot be applied to our nowadays lives, the only result of it is fruitless or even worse.(这句,读着不大顺啊。。。另外,这一段的内容你在开头结尾都没有提到,最好还是能有所提及)
History is a mirror which can reflects various aspects of our daily lives and we can learn the good qualities from our ancestors thus helping us refine ourselves better. The value of studying histories do not confine to the extent of our daily lives, it can also be applied in other fields. In our modern world, the best way to handle the history and let it has the greatest value, is to take history as a reference and to use the skill of case-by-case study.(结尾还行~~)
整个文章看下来没太多语法错误,逻辑也还行,但就是感觉论证不充分,总是淡淡的。。。说服力不够。另外句式多样些,继续加油哈O(∩_∩)O~ |
