题目:"In order toimprove the quality of instruction at the college and university level, allfaculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world inprofessions relevant to the courses they teach."

××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
The author asserts requiring all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach ,since this requirement will improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level. It isessential for professors to teach their students with not only theoretical knowledgebut also practical appliance of these theory and the idea of working outside the academic world can , at some extent, offer professors more theory-applyexperience. Therefore, I fundamentally agree with the author's idea. However,it would not be reasonable to ask all faculty to obey this requirement. I shallexplain my reasons bellow.

There is much controversy over the issue of why more and more graduates are refused during their job hunting. One possible explanation is due to the world economy depression. Butthe basic causation is they are lack of practical experience . Compare to what the students' future profession’s requirement , some of the courses are too theoretical. The negative effect is apparent especially in engineering disciplines such ascomputer engineering , bioengineering and automation, etc. Computer science graduates are capable to explain complex computer disciplines but can hardly complete any simple programming tasks because lacking of programming trainings.Require faculty to work outside the academic world can greatly raise their attention to what is happening now and provide their students with opportunities of gaining practical experience. Besides, professors are able to teach studentsnot only content in the textbooks but also the information and experience whichthey deprived from work. Thus job hunting would be easy for graduates and the gapbetween the academic world and real world is fixed.

Moreover, many faculties are doing research in the college or university. Theory developmentor technology invention needs much concern to the demand of the real world. Byworking in professions relevant to the courses they teach , those faculty willgain an excellent chance to explore the practical field which they supposed todo research in. A chemistry professor, for instance, may improve certainmedical chemical's effect in his/her research after getting well known aboutcertain type of medicine's construct during working in medicine productindustries. This, in one way, could improve the quality of the college anduniversity level.

However, it wouldbe unnecessary to require all faculty to spend time working in relevant fields.Such as history , philosophy, math theory and so no. These courses are mainlydoing theoretical works and few professions are suitable for these faculty. Forexample, a philosophy professor need to spend a lot of time covering , organizingand speculating all kinds of ideas proposed by the famous philosophers eitherin the past or at present. If we ask the professor to do certain work , say togive lectures in philosophy museums, his teaching preparation would be significantlydisturbed by the work. Then the work would do no benefits to the professor.Under this circumstance, we should not require these faculties to work.

To sum up, the work is beneficial to most of the faculty while has negative effects on some faculty. Whether one should work or not depends on what is his/her field's function. Consequently, we should encourage faculty to work and do not makethis requirement compulsory.

The author asserts requiring all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach ,since this requirement will improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level. It isessential(is essential) for professors to teach their students with not only theoretical knowledgebut (knowlegde but ) also practical appliance of these theory and the idea of working outside the academic world can , at some extent, offer professors more theory-applyexperience.(句子结构有问题and前面应该加逗号隔开) Therefore, I fundamentally agree with the author's idea. However,it would not be reasonable to ask all faculty to obey this requirement. I shallexplain(shall explain) my reasons bellow.

There is much controversy over the issue of why more and more graduates are refused during their job hunting. One possible explanation is due to the world economy depression. Butthe basic causation is they are lack of practical experience . Compare(comparing吧应该) to what the students' future profession’s requirement , some of the courses are too theoretical. The negative effect is apparent especially in engineering disciplines such ascomputer(as computer) engineering , bioengineering and automation, etc. Computer science graduates are capable to explain complex computer disciplines but can hardly complete any simple programming tasks because lacking of programming trainings.(我不这样认为,计算机科学学科的学生怎么可能不会编程,理科c语言都是必修的呀,c++和数据结构他们肯定必修的)Require(requiring吧) faculty to work outside the academic world can greatly raise their attention to what is happening now and provide their students with opportunities of gaining practical experience. Besides, professors are able to teach studentsnot(students not) only content in the textbooks but also the information and experience whichthey(which they) deprived(为什么会出现个这个词,不是很懂) from work. Thus job hunting would be easy for graduates and the gapbetween(gap between) the academic world and real world is fixed.

Moreover, many faculties(faculty好像就是指全体教员) are doing research in the college or university. Theory developmentor(这个词我有点看不懂) technology invention needs much concern to the demand of the real world. Byworking(by working) in professions relevant to the courses they teach , those faculty willgain(will gain) an excellent chance to explore the practical field which they supposed todo(to do) research in. A chemistry professor, for instance, may improve certainmedical(certain medical) chemical's effect in his/her research after getting well known aboutcertain(about certain) type of medicine's construct during working in medicine productindustries(product industies). (这个例子不算很好,为了了解药物的成分似乎每必要非要去工厂工作。)This, in one way, could improve the quality of the college anduniversity(and university) level.

However, it wouldbe(would be) unnecessary to require all faculty to spend time working in relevant fields.Such as history , philosophy, math theory and so no(on). These courses are mainlydoing theoretical works and few professions are suitable for these faculty. Forexample(for example), a philosophy professor need to spend a lot of time covering , organizingand speculating all kinds of ideas proposed by the famous philosophers eitherin(either in) the past or at present. If we ask the professor to do certain work , say togive(to give) lectures in philosophy museums, his teaching preparation would be significantlydisturbed(significantly disturbed) by the work. Then the work would do no benefits to the professor.Under this circumstance, we should not require these faculties to work.

To sum up, the work is beneficial to most of the faculty while has negative effects on some faculty. Whether one should work or not depends on what is his/her field's function. Consequently, we should encourage faculty to work and do not makethis requirement
compulsory.
