The speaker asserts that educational systems should place more emphasis on the exploration of emotions and it seems unreasonable to emphasis on reasoning and logical thinking. While I concede that in certain fields students are well served by cultivating emotions and feeling, in most area it is by nurturing intellect rather than emotions that student grasp their subject, in sequence, improve the well-being of society.

I agree the speaker insofar as emphasis on emotions and feeling can promote students making progress in discipline such as art. After all, artistic inspiration and ideas spring not from logical but from intensive feelings and emotions such as love, abomination, sadness, and joy. Moreover, the chief judgement of  the artistic achievement is not in technical skill but rather the psychical resonance and spiritual shock.

Aside from its practicality in arts, the exploration of emotion has little place in educational systems. If we carry out the exploration of emotion in fields such as Mathematics and Physics, what's the difference in academic between a mathematician feel deeply or not? Even in other fields such as history, political science and public policy, emotion would play no role. Consider, concepts of justice, fairness which is largely talking about in these area. Students can easily understand these concepts by exploring the emotions such as impartial, sympathy. On the contrary, these concepts themselves are manifest objective, so emotions which is subjective have little to do with the highly logical matters. However, the motive of emphasis on reasoning and logical thinking which can promote students approaching the essence of objective and abstract disciplines is apparent.  

Indeed, on a systemic scale excessive emphasis on exploration of our emotions can have deleterious societal consequences. Emotions lead to irrationality in thought and action. The unreasonable and aggressive netizen is the best example. They illogically unstoppable assail in trivial matters, even pretend as the protector of the mother land to abuse the developed country. Obviously, the utility emotions and lacking of logical and reasoning education is the main cause --- our culture lends too much credence to our emotions and not enough to our mind. Furthermore, the phenomenon of aggressive netizen is only one aspect of the exploiting emotions while suppressing reason, from which demagogues gain and hold power. It is the humanity's most horrific atrocities that this brief essay cannot begin to address.

In sum, although the exploration of emotions and feeling can promote fundamentally in limited disciplines such as art, students, even the whole society are better off by emphasis on reasoning and logical thinking.
