Does the video recording serves as a more important means of documenting than a written one? The speaker tends to agree. In my view, the video recording is better when it comes to important events which need recording from spatial aspects and in which the objectiveness and accuracy is required. However, it may be improper to overstate that the video recording is superior to written recording in any respects.

Firstly, I concede that video cameras are wonderful in recording events from spatial aspects. And it could replay the important moments. For example, although we may have read many articles describing the spectacular scene of the volcanic eruption or waterfall, but what the scene would be like is still unknown without seeing it with our own eyes. This is just because that no one can describe more accurate than the video camera no matter he or she is a writer or journalist. Besides this important moment such as volcanic eruption which could be documented by video camera, it is better for us to record the important moment of our life such as our wedding ceremony, an important birthday party and so forth. And these video documents could record every movement of our lovers and the smile faces of our families. By reviewing these vivid videos when we are old it would recall us a deep feeling about the beautiful past which the written records could not give.

Secondly, the video records could also serve as crucial evidences in courts. Considering the accuracy of recording moving objects, the video camera could record any crimes such as stealing, robbery, drug trafficking about the suspects.
Moreover, the video monitor could also affirm evidences for some accidents. For instance, when we want to find who should pay more responsibilities for the traffic accidences the video records would provide objective evidences rather than the arguments of the involved drivers. In brief, for the purpose of documenting events in which the moving objects are important the video camera serves as a better tool considering its objectiveness and accuracy.

However, the written records may be better than video records to document something abstract or statistical data. For theories in mathematics, physics, chemistry and so on, it's better to write them in book rather than to video them by cameras. To record terms such as a contract between two companies are better left to written documents. And it is especially true when it comes to statistical data. It would be hard for us to record some all the population census data or financial statistical data of a company by video cameras.

What's more, the video cannot also record our feelings which are so important for us humans. Although video can record everything in our lifes including going to school, playing basketball, graduating, working and so forth, it cannot record the happy feeling when we playing basketball, the pain when we get hurt. However, the written words could. We can write the happy and pain feeling in our diaries.

In sum, whether the video recording is better than written one or not depends on that what we want to record. If we want to record some events with high accuracy or objectiveness, we should us video camera. However, for the purpose of recording something abstract or our feeling the written recording is better.
