关于argument 140 小小的思考

TOPIC: ARGUMENT140 - The following appeared in a report of the Committee on Faculty Promotions and Salaries at Elm City University.
"During her seventeen years as a professor of botany, Professor Thomas has proved herself to be well worth her annual salary of $50,000. Her classes are among the largest at the university, demonstrating her popularity among students. Moreover, the money she has brought to the university in research grants has exceeded her salary in each of the last two years. Therefore, in consideration of Professor Thomas' demonstrated teaching and research abilities, we recommend that she receive a $10,000 raise and a promotion to Department Chairperson; without such a raise and promotion, we fear that Professor Thomas will leave Elm City University for another college."

有个问题请大家指正。。。

lz觉得是不是一定要先攻击这一点? 因为前面不管怎么说，只要这句成立了，都是白搭？

如果是这样, 求一个提纲。。。因为觉得这样很别扭。。。

不是吧。。一般结论不都最后才攻击麽？比如到最后来一段"即使……（就是前述论证都成立），她也未必会走，因为对学校有感情啊，家人都在当地生活啊，或者这个地方很宜居啊等等" > <

红字部分并不是文章的主题，而是文章的目的。首先你要清楚为什么学校要挽留Prof. Thomas，因为她很有能力。首要证明的就是她真的有能力，没有能力留她干嘛？其次是，仅仅通过加薪和升职就能留住她么？还有一点就是教学能力和研究能力强劲，就能成为一个好的系主任么？

额。。大家的意思我明白le。。

原来是这么想的：  前面大家都会说她balabala没能力 来提工资和位子........所以不用给她提的...........
但是这样完全就可以用最后的反驳：  她没位子和工资就走了。。。。你有没说她不会走！

总觉得这题有点不一样。。hehe

为何要证明她会不会走呢？只要驳斥即使作者给她加工资，升职了，也不一定能留得住她不就行了...作者的conclusion是认为只要加了工资，升了职，她就不会走，说明其不充分性即可
