In this argument, the author asserts that experience pain between women and men are different based on the researches about 20 women and 28 men who were having their wisdom teeth extracted. It seems logical at first glance, but reveals several flaws as the further study.

To begin with, just based on the research among the people with 20 women and 28 women, how can the author claim that the feeling of the pain is different? With such a small sample, it can hardly represent the same condition to all of the people in the world. What’s more, people in different age bracket may have different feelings about the pain. Perhaps women are young people among 20 to 30. On the contrary, male respondents are children. If it is in this case, it is obvious that children have lower resistance of pain than adults. Thus we cannot generally conclude that women and men experience pain very differently from one another.

Additionally, granted that there exists a great different between women and men, it is unwarranted that kappa opioids, a painkiller, have the same effect whenever pain medication is required. As we all know, the structure and reasons contribute to feelings of pain are distinguished between each other. So reasons that lead to experience pain in different parts of body are different. It is entirely possible that take too more about the kappa opioids may lead to some other more serious diseases such as heart attack, hypertension. Or a side-effect of kappa opioids may occur which have negative effect to our body. Can a patient with slightly headache take a special painkiller which is treated for cancer? Of course not. Without further study about the effect in other parts of the body, it is unpersuasive to reach the conclusion that kappa opioids is suitable for women whenever pain medication is required.

Besides, lacking comparison between kappa opioids and others painkillers, we cannot make sure that it is suitable for women and men. Different pain medication may have different effects. Thus, the author should provide more detailed evidence about the different reactions with different pain medications. It is entirely possible that there is a more effective medication for women to ease of pain. Or otherwise, kappa opioids indeed have a great effect of alleviating pain in extracting wisdom teeth, however, it may have little effect in other parts of the body or even a side-effect may occur which have negative effect to our health. On the contrary, perhaps kappa opioids is the most effective medication for men to ease the pain feeling in extracting the wisdom teeth. So without citing more persuasive evidence to support the idea that kappa opioids is suitable for women, yet the men should be given other kinds of pain medication seems unwarranted and unconvincing.

In summary, without citing more detailed information about the different experiences pain feelings between men and women, the conclusion author claimed is unconvincing. To better evaluate the argument, the research about other medications compared with the kappa opioids and conditions in other parts of the body after taking this kind of medication should be given.
