Applications are invited for one PhD scholarship in parallel computing at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, for Fall 2011.  The successful applicant will conduct research on parallel and distributed algorithms, efficient communication and synchronization in distributed systems, as well as mathematical models of modern architectures such as multi-cores, GPGPUs and cloud computing.

Applicants should have strong backgrounds in computer science and mathematics, and at least a Bachelors degree.  Candidates with MSc degrees are strongly encouraged to apply. Proficiency in English is required.
The scholarship includes a waiver of all tuition and fees.  A monthly stipend of S$2000 is awarded, and will be increased to S$2500 upon successful completion of the qualifying examination.

Bio: Prof.  Fan received his PhD from MIT, and joined NTU in Fall 2010.  His main research interests are in distributed and parallel computing.  His work has been recognized with a number of awards, including two Best Student Paper Awards from ACM PODC (2004, 2006), and the MIT Sprowls Award for the best theses in Computer Science.
