    Issue 130  How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.


Is it true that the destiny of society depends on how children are socialized while we have not learned how to raise children to bring about a better society?
From my perspective, I acknowledge that how children are socialized have an influential effects on
the development of society, theallegationis too over when it comes to that the socialization is the only factor that determines the destiny of society and that we have not learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.

To begin with, the threshold statement has considerable merit for the following reasons. First, the ability to associate and communicate with others is an elementary requirement for people to survive which is also an important part of being socialization. Through communication, we exchange our emotions and feelings with the outside world and build a bridge with other different people. It is the first step for everyone to be a socialized person. Second, through socialization, a child will learn the basic rules of this society which may include being polite, honest, kind and so on. It's hard to expect these children will bring us a better society if they have no awareness to corporate with others and to think about things as a responsible part of the whole society.


However, our society's destiny not only depends on how children are socialized but also depends on a lot of other factors and some of them will be discussed below.
First of all, one of the most significant factors is the intellectual level of our children which includes logical thinking and reasoning, creative working method, the ability to learn new things and so forth. Without enough knowledge about the world or certain expertise in some fields, it's not likely that they will make our society a better place even though they have been socialized enough. What's more, in order to grow into a qualified citizen, a child should be healthy mentally and physically. A healthy body is the guaranty of everything. To the opposite, if you were caught up with kinds of diseases, you will be disturbed on the way to success. Besides, being physically healthy is not enough and the children who will bring us a better future should also have a positive attitude towards life, success, failure, even the death. Only with the abilities to release the pressure they have, to overcome the difficulties they meet, to forgive the hurt they bear can these children
grow up to be excellent scientists, competent engineers and promising leaders. Obviously, the claim that how children are socialized determines the destiny of society is not complete and there're many factors such as the children 's intelligence and health condition.

Moreover, as for the claim that we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society, I strongly disagree with it. What's the definition of a better society？For modern society, a better one means more protection to the damaging environment, more food to the people in poverty, more respects to women and blank people and more peace and harmony to everyone in the world. As what I have seen, our society has made a lot of efforts to offer children a good environment to develop these qualities which will bring us a better future. Consider, for instance, the school education has provided children a good environment to study the knowledge, learn skills about communication and corporation develop a good living habit such as exercise regularly and so on. After school, parents also try to build a harmony family environment to children and offer them a lot of opportunities to develop their interests. As it turned out, in recent years, our society is getting better almost in every aspect as I referred above although it remains a series of problems to solve.

In final analysis, despite the merit of the speaker's claim that socialization is a necessary quality to children, I do think that we have already educated our children in a good way which has already bring us a better society although I admit that our education system is not perfect, our society remains a lot of tough problems. The development of society is a long and hard process which needs everybody's efforts but it's no doubt that our society will get better and better because of our children.
