Why go to universities?
Universities are places where intelligent minds get together and learn from each other. In my point of view, going to universities is for several reasons, such as knowledge, life experience and work preparation.
First, as we all know, we go to universities to learn knowledge which helps us to better understand the world. Here, knowledge doesn’t just mean the subjects related to our majors, and it also include the things that make us all-rounded. For example, I think every student should read some classic literary works, like ‘The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn’ or ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and get some basic understanding of scientific phenomenon like the cause of earthquake, what is gravity or the biological evolution of human beings.
Moreover, we also go to universities for experience. Nowadays, some universities provide opportunities for their students to go to large companies to do internship during summer holidays. Some students will even be sent to foreign countries as exchange students. Also, on the campus, there are a large number of clubs for student to join, where they can meet people of the same interest. It is by taking part in these clubs that a student can learn how to organize and advertise an activity. These experiences can cultivate a student’s leadership as well as communicative skills.
Furthermore, going to universities means to be prepared for my future career. After graduation, I have to work to earn a living. In order to get myself more competitive in the job market, I have to obtain the necessary knowledge and skilled acquired in my future profession. Universities provide me a number of chances to practice myself, both in the academically and practically. Only in this way, can I guarantee that I will own a standing point in the market.
So in a word, going to universities are of great importance to me. Certainly, I can meet a lot of talented and intelligent people there and learn from them. In addition, what I learn in a university, no matter in or beyond my major, can enrich my life experience and have myself ready for the coming job market. |
