Education plays an （a）significant role in people's socialization, through which people grasp not only some of the basic norms and customs of their culture, but also a great deal of both the fundamental and latest knowledge of the world in order to better adapt to the daily life. As such, it is reasonable that both the government and various organizations and even individuals pay so much attention to the education, providing more and better opportunities for modern people to be educated than before.
Without question, after hundreds years of revolution and reform, the world has been transformed from a place where the education was only limited to the rich or the noble, to a peace land in which almost every individual enjoys the right of receiving education. For example, in ancient times, no matter in eastern or western civilization, the most talented people always came from rich or noble families, such as Archimedes, Mozart and so forth, because at that time, education was a privilege only available to few people on the top of the society. On the other hand, under the pressure of life, the poor had neither money nor energy to go to school and learn some knowledge. While in this day and age, the school education, especially that of the primary school, is open to all the people and one can even get further education in high school, college or graduate school education if he or she is really interested in studying.
Apart from the possibility offered by the social revolution, people also are more eager to learn and keep up with the latest knowledge of the changing world, resulting from the mechanism that better understanding of some knowledge may contribute to a more desirable job and higher salary. In contemporary society, it is common that people actively take some programs ranging from accounting skills to spoken English skills in order to be better qualified for some superior job offers. In this way, people are stimulated to get more and more skills and knowledge and thus are more easily to become educated.
Moreover, the development of the communication technology also makes it easier for people to learn something useful and valuable. Preschoolers can learn letters, words and basic mathematics from various television programs such as Sesame Street, while college students can search a great deal of materials related to their papers or homework through the internet. Similarly, housewives can catch up with the latest news of the community by reading newspapers, while the white-collars can be informed of the instant changes of the stock market by keeping in touch with their stock dealer on the cell phone. In this way, people are linked to the society and can learn more from the outside world.
All in all, benefited from the condition that people are allowed to learn anything in any way they want and also their eagerness to learn, I strongly believe that in modern times, people are easier to become educated than in the past.
