“The stability of a society depends on how it responds to the extremes of human behavior”


In a society prevailing individualism today, the freedom of individual behavior seems to be overly amplified, which, therefore, inevitably generates certain extremes of human behavior that might harm the social security as the speaker worries. But, does the stability of a society only determine on how it deals with these extreme conduct? When it comes to my attitude, I would argue in favor that there still are other essential elements to stabilizing a society except pacifying extremes of human behavior.

To begin with, is there any precise definition to the extremes of human behavior? Possibility not. However, the extreme behavior, to me, seems that: if one’s action hardly passes through the judgment of moral and law standards, it would be considered as extremes behaviors such as suicide, crime, and violence, apparently, all the signs of a society toward deterioration.

It is no surprising that one makes less contribution to the society if living in the circumstance sinking into the endless abyss where full of these negative events. Thus, government should come forward to not only face but also seek effective solutions for these social problems. For avoiding the arising rate of suicide, for example, government could establish consulting and medical centers serving the functions of counseling and affording treatments for the people bearing the tendency of killing themselves. As to reducing crime and violence incidents, legislature should undertake to enact a series of clear and definite laws for preventing their happenings. Therefore, with adequately and immediately copping with the extreme behaviors, a society would develop and progress in the more stable pace.

Despite paying its attention on such extreme people, government, however, should not overstress the importance of them. It is not the main, or only, method that government should use to keep the social order, because there are more significant elements associated to maintain the balance of a society. For instance, education system should take their responsibility of cultivating people the suitable value standards through fundamental education. And government ought to make its best effort to create a stable economic circumstance, which ensures its people could sustain their basic livings. In fact, a sound welfare system, a well-formed democratic polity, and even adequate religious beliefs are also the essential components of a steady society. Thus, government should take its balance to develop and improve all factors related to social stability rather than only focusing on extreme behaviors.

In conclusion, the extremes of human behaviors, mostly, considered as the signs of a deteriorating society like that suicide, crime, and violence. Government, thus, should take in charge of facing and seeking effective solutions for these social problems. Nevertheless, there are still other significant elements, related to maintaining the stability of a society, on which government should focus much attention.

Government, thus, should take in charge of facing and seeking effective solutions for these social problems. Nevertheless, there are still other significant elements, related to maintaining the stability of a society, on which government should focus much attention.
