"Most societies do not take their greatest thinkers seriously, even when they claim to admire them


Our modern society features its accelerated speed of increase in accumulation of knowledge , experience, and information in every field. Knowledge , as an agent ,or the representative of wealth has been adorned unprecedentedly. Maybe it is logically to assume that the great thinker , the representative and the agent of wisdom ,which is the twin brother of knowledge, will be adorned, too. Unfortunately it is not the truth . the fact is , our modern society ,alone with most societies in the history do not take their thinkers seriously, even sometimes they claim to admire them

Our modern era is an era lacks the great thinker. We can see wealthy executives, charming actors and actress, popular sportsmen everywhere and everytime , but no one could explicated name a great thinker of our time. The reason ,which may be astonishing , is that no one want to be a thinker. We all become more and more profit oriented nowadays. When we are choosing our career, we inevitably choose doctors, lawyers , executives, or ,in other words, we choose money. As it seems that there is no practical use of a thinker, no one is willing to pay for him. Consequently no one would like to be a thinker. The phenomenon of lacking thinkers in our modern society illustrate the extent to which our society ignores the thinkers. They do not get a suitable position in our society.

Let us to be more general. Not only modern society but almost all society every existed in the history tend to ignore the role of great thinker. The reasons are follows.

Firstly, the public cannot actually understand them. The greatest thinkers characterized by his profound knowledge and great insight. Their theory often transcend their temporary society and goes beyond the comprehension of common people. It is the main reason why they always been regarded as heretics or manias. 哥白尼(怎么说阿：（）is a case in point. Cannot made himself understand at his time, he was almost discard by the society. But we could not blame the people and the society at that time, for they cannot break the bond of their limited knowledge and shallow perspective, which doomed the fate of the great thinkers .

Secondly, it is the influence that government exert which shapes this trend . some government had actually realize the greatness of the theory the thinkers possess. But to their point of view, their greatness not only have no practical uses but would prone to bring about major social changes if the public truly understand them. The changes, which make the society unstable and shaken the very root of the government , is what they hate. In order not to catch the public attention , it is always by trying to ignore the existence of the great thinkers that government maintains its reign. The government takes the lead and the society follows.

Maybe some society allege that they respect the great thinkers ,it is most probably for democratic or diplomatic reasons . the intrinsic bias over thinkers cannot be reversed.

In sum , we can perceive that it is due to the intrinsic character of the greatest thinkers that they always cannot be treated seriously by the society.
