I endorse the idea that we human shouldassume a responsibility to save the endangered species. Because anthropogenicevents have contributed to the extinction of many species and as a result of upsettingthe ecological balance, the survival of human will encounter a great threat. Extraordinaryefforts, however, is not necessary to ensure the preservation of any endangeredspecies, especially at the expense of numerous funds and jobs.
In fact, we have a duty to preserveendangered species to compensate for human events. Since Industrial Revolution, human have consumed innumerable natural resources by deforestation, massproduction, and serious pullution, which has destroyed the environment ofplants and habitats of animals. For private benefits, hunters catch animals forfood or money, scientists collect species for research, and businessmenpurchase large number of animal skin and viscerals for huge potential benefits. Therefore, we certainly should make efforts-in funds and jobs-to ensure thesurvival of endangered species. Human are supposed to be aware of the fact thatthe cost spent on endangered species are just the benefits we get from them andwe are merely paying a little back for them.
When it comes to ecological balance andbiodiversity, it is necessary for us to save endangered species. Extinction ofspecies is a great loss for biological gene pool, directly affecting theproduction of human daily life and ecological balance of nature. As one of thespecies in the earth, human will be faced with threat of extinction once thebalance is broken down and food chain is interrupted owing to the extinction ofmany species. Each species depends on many others for its own survival. If wecannot save the species timely, human will be not exempt from extinction sooner or later.
A huge cost in fundsand jobs, however, is not necessarily reasonable to preserve endangered species. Although many certain extinct species are abscribed to anthropogenic events, natural disasters and other factors contributes to more extinction withthe natural power far beyond that of human. Even if we human have a will to savethem, we actually help a little, no matter how much we spend-let alone the attempt to save every species. Furthermore, as Darwin said, extinction results from the inexorable process of so-called “natural selection” in which stronger species survive while weaker ones do not. Human do have the accountability to protect other species, we yet are incapable of saving every species, particularly at the cost of great money and many jobs, which are likely toplace a significant influence on other social pressing problems like disease. Afterall, it is human nature that drives us to put our survival on the first place.
In sum, that we should take messures to prevent species from endangering is undoutedly. Yet ,at thesame time, a great cost will be not a sensible decision, especially when our survival obtains no guarantee. |
