20100213NA Do you agree with the following statement? In a team, those who do not accept others’ criticism cannot succeed.


Some people think that to be stubborn on one’s own opinion is the first step to be successful. However, from my perspective, the person who can receive other’s criticisms and disagreements can be called successful. And I will approve it from different presentations as following.


First of all, it is extremely essential in the arrangement of market. If a company plans to sell a new favor of chips, one of the most important things is to collect the reaction of it- disadvantages rather than advantages. Because by studying it, the manager can figure out the weaknesses of the new product and improve it efficiently in time. In that case, it will bring company much more profit.


After that, let’s focus on the reason why criticisms from older players can do a great job to a sports team. For example, a basketball team is usually made of some talent young players and several experienced players in a team. There’s no doubt that younger basketball players can make the team faster and more powerful. Nevertheless, most of them are lack of experience and easy to become out of control during a drastic match. Thus, a team need to few experienced players to teach the young leaders how to deal with it and control the rhythm of the game. In this way, the team can become more competitive.


The last but not the least, we should also pay attention to the study team. There are always some arguments and different opinions when we do a research together. In this situation, we need to communicate with each other and provide our own views directly. Then we can make a best choice after listening to others’ suggests. However, if we just persist on our own ideas and do not care about other group members at all. Thus, I do not it will be a success for a whole team even if he/she has done a good job by himself/herself.


In conclusion, listening the advice from others does not mean we should give our own idea up, However, it is one of the most efficient way to think more exhaustive and deeper. After listening to others, we can find the best way for us to deal with difficulties.

Some people claim that offices can provide desirable places for people to focus on their jobs rather than entertainment. Nevertheless, from my perspective, it is hard to say whether the offices are suitable for employees. What’s more, it is a way of waste of time, lack of efficiency, and damage of employees’ enthusiastic during the work.

First of all, by using telephones and computers can bring extreme convenience to employees. In one hand, it really saves lots of time. We do not need to worry about the problems like getting up late for underground or bus, being stuck in a traffic jam, or living far from the company. In another hand, we can chat with people directly and immediately. Because all we need to do is call him/her rather than waiting in the meeting offices.




Besides, by using telephones and computers can change the way of communicating with each other completely. It makes the job much more simple and efficient. For example, with the rapid development of science and technology, people can chat and see other’s faces on the computer screen. In that case, we require flying from one country to another in order to have a meeting no more. It not only helps to save expense of business, but makes the work much simpler.


The last but not the least, using telephones and computers bring employees with rights to determine their schedule freely. They can have more time to be with the family, have a party with friends, and do some sports. In this way, they can have more passion to enjoy working and life.



In conclusion, the change of working way definitely gives a helping hand to improve the quality of life.

From the reading passage, the government and car producers found a new engine called hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine to take the seat of internal-burning one, which is good for environment. On the other hand, although professor admitted that the petroleum is limited and bad for environment, he pointed out that the hydrogen was not as optimistic as the author in the passage thought.  

Previously, the author argued that the materials of hydrogen-based engine is not as limited as petroleum one, since it can be produced from many sources, like water and natural gas rather than gasoline or diesel fuel. Nevertheless the professor claimed that it was hard to make the hydrogen into a pure liquid before using it. In one hand, we were lack of advanced cooling technology to produce and store it. In another hand, this kind of technology is not practical now.

After that, the author also showed that using hydrogen-based one can solve the pollution by-products of burning oils. However, the professor also mentioned that we needed to burn coal or oil in order to get the hydrogen from the gas or water. As a result, it was true that we didn’t produce any pollution when we were driving cars of pure hydrogen, on the other hand, we generated lots of pollution in the process of purification.

Last of all, in the passage’s view of benefits on the fuel-cell engines include paying less money, twice efficiency, and half fuel energy than internal-burning engines. Nonetheless, the professor stood that it would not be cheap at all. Because in order to the hydrogen, they needed a rare and expensive metal called platinum to form the pure liquid, which can lead to chemical reaction and produce electricity to power the automatic. Besides, people can not find any other cheap metal take the place of platinum.

The last but not the least, using telephones and computers bring employees with rights to determine their schedule freely. They can have more time to be (spend more time staying)with the family, have(having) a party with friends, and do(doing) some sports(instead of just being frozen in the office when there indeed no so much work to accomplish). In this way, they can have more passion to enjoy working and life.(they will cast more passion for enjoying working and life)

In conclusion, the change of working way definitely gives a helping hand to improve the quality of life.

20100619NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If you need to discuss upsetting or controversial problems with others, Using e-mail/text messaging is better than using telephone/voice-messaging.

  With the development of science and technology, people have different choices to discuss problems with others. Some people think using telephone/ voice-messaging is an efficient way to solve the problems. However, in my opinion, the benefits are much less than using e-mail/ text-messaging. Because if we choose to use e-mail or text messaging, it will bring lots of convenience and advantages to us- like preparing more sufficient, saving money and time, and making others feel more enjoyable.

First of all, using e-mail/ text messaging can provide us with plenty of time to make our views more persuasive. For example, before we send the mail to others, we have enough time and chances to collect more information to support our ideas, to revise the article with the help of experienced people. In that way, we are able to guarantee the article is expressed comprehensive and logical. Nevertheless, these are the things we can not do during a short and hurry call.

Besides, using mails is also an efficient way of saving money and time. As we all know, time is money. So time is extremely essential that none of people want to lose it. However, using telephones will contribute us to lose both of them. For example, even although we know the expense of calling is increasing rapidly nowadays, we still have to call each other to clarify our views and discuss the controversy again and again. As a result, it will definitely waste plenty of time and money.

The last but not the least, using e-mail can bring lots of convenience to others. Because he/she can read mail when he/she feels free and comfortable rather than being disturbed by a sudden phone call when he/she is watching movie, enjoying listening to a musical in the threat, or sleeping in the bed. In that way, he/she will be glad to concentrate and research on the ideas we express in the mail when he/she feels good.

In conclusion, if we prepare the ideas sufficient enough, it will not only helps us express the views more persuasive, but also makes others feel more comfortable. In this situation, why do not we choose to use e-mails/ text messaging?

From the reading material, we have noticed that the reason why the number of sea otters became smaller and smaller is environmental pollution as well as predations. However, the professor hold another point that the decline was caused by predation mainly.

First of all, the reading passage showed the water sample from the sea area which most of sea otters lived suggested that it was suitable for them to exist any longer. On the contrary, the professor claimed two truths to against the decline caused by pollution. First reason was that no one found plenty of dead otters in the share or coastland. Besides, there was only one explain to this appearance that the predators hunt them, at the same time, ate them.

Therefore, the reading passage argued that other small mammals in the sea like sea lions, seals supported that pollution caused that. But, from the view of the professor, we achieved that although orca used to hunting big mammals as whales, the group of whales became smaller. Due to the human hunting, in this way, the orca had to change the diet of them, and they had to eat smaller mammals instead.

Finally, the lecture appeared that the uneven concentrations were produced by pollution. Moreover, the professor explained that these observations were totally arisen from the habitat of otters. Because they preferred to live in the seaside instead of living in the shallow, rocky locations. In this way, it was not hard to understand why human were easy to hunt for them.
