Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Arizona State University is recruiting a new class of ambitious and talented graduate students for Fall 2012.
• In a recent report by Science Watch, the Department was ranked number six in the world, ahead of Stanford, Berkeley and MIT, in terms of the impact of its publications.
• The Department is number six, behind only Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, Wisconsin, Princeton and MIT, in papers published in Science and Nature in the last 5 years.
• The Department is in the top 25 in the US in terms of research spending.
The Department now has more than 40 students from top Chinese Universities, including USTC, Peking, Tsinghua, Fudan, Wuhan, Zhejiang, Nanjing, Jilin and Nankai. Financial support for overseas students at ASU is the same as that for US students and is guaranteed. The Department is very friendly towards overseas students with unique English language learning opportunities and support. ASU continues to grow even in these financially uncertain times. For 2012 we aim to recruit 5 - 10 new Chinese students.
ASU is located in Tempe, which is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. With over 1.6 million inhabitants, Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the US. Phoenix is the only large US city where the cost of living is slightly below the national average, and our students enjoy a high standard of living. The weather in Arizona is beautiful year round, with lots of sunshine during the winter months. The ASU campus is beautiful and has many trees and green spaces.
