There is an old saying that "Money is everything" and it affects the value of many people. Though an increasing number of people pursuing money because of the demand in having good quality life and making children receive good education, I also think it is guilty to put money as the top priority。I think most people are working for social situation and reputation.
Firstly, I think social situation is more important for some people, because they do not have to worry about the money problems. For example, if a young person who has a wealthy family is hunting a job, he will probably select a job which can be respected by others, like a doctor or teacher. They may not be paid much if devoting themselves to these kinds of jobs, but they can achieve the reputation and respect easily. What's more, some old people who have already accumulated enough possession mostly hope to quit their high salary but retired. They would like to do some working as a volunteer and do some charities. In this way, they will be highly spoken by others. Thus, as a people who have owned a plenty of possessions, money attaches less importance than the social situation.
Furthermore, for the modernday graduated students from universities, if the job mean low social situation, even they need money to support their life and some jobs promise to give a high salary to the employees , there is few people want to do the job. For example, I have a brother and he graduated from thirdrate university in the July this year. His home is so poor that he finished his study with the scholarship and loans and his parents hope that he could hunt a job of high salary to support the whole family. What makes all of us surprised, he refused a chance with 4000 yuan which is to be a doorman in a fivestar hotel in Beijing. He said he would feel shameful to do a job like that especially when he meet friends and relatives.
In conclusion, no matter rich people or poor people, most of them pay more attention on the social situation than earning money when concerning a job.
