42 Students should always question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively.
WORDS: 365 TIME: 00:30:00
AS a matter of fact, there has been alway s debate over the issue that should students accept what they are taught passively or not. Actually, distinctive opinions divide due to the readers' respective educational backgrounds, social experiences, and cultural values. Of course that, in some specific cases, students have no choice but to accept what they are taught passively, such as that when the knowledge is too elusive to understand far from questioning. However, in most cases, I agree with that students should question rather than accept. My qualified view about the question will be deeply substantiated by the discussion below.
Admittedly, there are some courses which are much too difficult and elusive. In this way, students cannot question them insightfully
and even have difficulty to understand them in short time. It seems unrealistic to ask students adopt questions about them. What's more, the fundamental knowledge is the most basic object for further study, which cannot easily be questioned. If the basic knowledge is questioned, the whole world of the science or other classic field might be changed, how can students learn objects of it later.
However, the discussion above might hold true in some distinctive circumstance, the more cases need students' questions rather than acceptance. For example, if students who study the fundamental theories have to accept it passively, how can they develop the creativity? The basic theory doesn't mean that it cannot be challenged. Most significant theories adopted by influential scientists were the typical cases of challenging authorities. The Einstein, who established the Relativity Theory, almost reversed the whole classic world by ancestors such as Newton. If we don't question the present theories, how can we develop a new one?
What's more, the ability of questioning is quite important, because it can not only be used in the study but also can be utilized all over our daily life. Only when we develop this ability, can we get a better life, since we can easily find out the beauty in our life and enjoy our life much.
To sum up by taking account all the discussion above into consideration, the view that student should question rather than acceptance is obviously more striking despite of its extreme in some specific circumstance. |
