The lecturer and the reading passage give contradictory opinions on the topic of salvage logging,which means removing the dead trees from the affected areas and put them into usage.The passage strongly recommends it,while the lecturer argues that the disadvantages of salvage logging obviously outweigh its advantages greatly.

Firstly,the lecturer argues that the cleaning up the dead trees is not necessary,since the decomposed trees can make the soil suitable for future growth of the tree.She even mentions that it is likely to cause greater disaster to the forest due to the lack of nutritional soil.Therefore,she considered the reading passage is wrong to claim that salvage logging can help forest areas recover better from a disaster.

Secondly,the lecturer goes on to refuting the claim in th reading passage- the decaying wood provides suitable habitat for some insects which may casue the terrible insect infestation.On the contrary,she posits that the insects have lived there for many years without casuing any insect infestation.In addition,tha dead trees are also the suitable habitat for birds or any other alleged benifdical creature that can contribute to the recover of the forest.

Finally,the lecturer challenged the last point presented in the passage  that the salvage logging is economic benefits.She reminds us that the benifits of the economy is too small ,however, the cost of the salvage logging appears to be  much considerable.And the jobs salvage logging can offer are not only  temporary but also inaccessible to common citzens since they are unqualified.
