Along with the development of the society, especially the worldwide trend of globalization, communication between different groups of people has attained growing concerns among the general public. Some people hold that the most effective way to communicate an idea of value to large groups of people is through the use of images, not language. As far as I am concerned, however, both of the two methods are of vital importance today, the deemphasis on any of them would be misleading.

On one hand, conveying an idea with images has its unique convenience. Nowadays, the use of images in communication is increasing significantly. People adopt the images as a way to express their ideas and value in that one single picture, for example, may contain a large amount of information that will take people quit a long time to convey in any language. As a student, I couldn't imagine attend a class that without any course ware showing in the blackboard or the screen of computer. We can receive people's ideas or value fast and clear by images.

What's more, the use of images is effective way in communication, even to the people in another country and in distinct languages. People in different regions may have problem in understanding the other's language. However, the people use images would suffer from that. As a matter of fact, when people from different countries meet for the first time with out any translators, images are always the best solutions. Another case in point is the movies, people throughout the world could as well appreciate Charles Chaplin's marvelous works without knowing English.

On the other hand, one of the advantages of using language is that it is convenience flexible, and directly if to the people with the same language. Taking a look at the politicians, many of them will take the lectures and speeches as one of their most effective way to make the public clear about the ideas and values. As for rank-and-file, they would also like to acknowledge other's opinion with the direct words.

Furthermore, communicating with languages between people may bring about in-depth and all-around analysis and consideration to people on a particular issue. Sometimes, with the increase in the pace of life which is more rushed and frantic than ever before, people need find the fastest way to express their ideas, and thus the use of language may be the best choice. We couldn't imagine there will be such a debate that people would like to discuss the issues by showing a series of images. That's why the use of language is also effective and important.

All in all, as is demonstrated above, either images or languages are effective ways in communication between people when conveying their ideas or values. It is hard to judge which is more effective, just as people's right and left hand, it is a waste of time to determine which is more important.
