Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television has helped improve standards of education. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
It is undeniable that new technology helps improve standards of education. Television, being one of many technology innovated product, certainly takes its part in education improvement.
First and most obviously, television could help with the process of understanding. Admittedly, in most cases, the best way to understand something is to watch it. In this way, television could provide visual materials which could depict objects vividly. This would be, without question, easy for people to understand what they see. For example, to introduce animals’ habits, teacher could simply ask students to watch a documentary on that certain animal. The television could provide not only images but also audio materials for students to listen. Therefore they are watching while listening. That’s an easy strategy for them to develop interest and understand.
Another way that television could help improve education is that, people could get ample information via watching television. Television programs are great in numbers and various in aspects. One could gather many ideas and perspectives out of watching TV. We all have the feeling that other people’s thinking might inspire us on certain issues, in the way that they differ from ours. Watching TV debating programs is one of the most convenient ways to for us to listen to other people’s idea. In this case it provides us information that could help studying.
Furthermore, television could provide us information that we couldn’t get by ourselves during the process of education. Some experiments in science class, could be carried out only under certain circumstances, or with certain equipment, that schools or teachers couldn’t provide. For example, one experiment of demonstrating air pressure is to let 8 horses to pull up an empty ball with no air in it. Not every teacher could make sure that he could provide his students to actually see this from happening. However they could play a recorded video of the experiment on television to his students. That would work just the same. In this way, television help to show many that otherwise would be difficult to depict to students.
In a word, television has helped improve education quality in many ways. It is almost impossible to teach without at in present time.
There have been many arguments in recent years whether nuclear energy should be used to generate electricity. Do you think nuclear energy should or should not be used for this purpose in your country. Which side do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
There have been debates on nuclear energy since the day it was introduced to the world. With respects to all of its possible negative effects, I still think it should be used in my country.
People should have certain concerns of nuclear energy. After all, it is more dangerous than any other power source on our planet. Nuclear accidents could lead to severe damages to the region nearby, and for a considerably long time. The recent earthquake has made nuclear power plants of Japan to leak. It affected not only Japan but all the way to China and the US.
But, should we abandon nuclear energy just for these safety reasons? I think the answer is no. Though nuclear power plants could be dangerous, they also could function normally and under control. In that case, its benefits to human society would outweigh those merely happened accidents.
I am pro for nuclear energy mostly because it’s clean. To generate the same amount of power, adapting nuclear way takes up the least sources. In comparison, building dams would do unthinkably damage to the eco-system, while fire power requires a huge amount of coal, which is dying out from our planet. To produce nuclear energy is without question more environmental friendly. It is even more sustainable than other methods.
Another reason I am for nuclear energy is because it is cheap. There are plenty of nuclear sources such as H and He on our planet, enough to make ample energy for us to use several thousand years. And because the source is great in number, they are cheap in return. However, other sources of generating energy could be either rare or expensive. Like I mentioned above, we are running out of coal and oil. Unfortunately we’re also not yet master of generating energy out of wind or solar power (They’re not efficient as well). So the choices seem to be very limited, and nuclear power is certainly one of the best.
Besides, making nuclear power takes the least of land, and requires less working stuff. It’s efficient, as well as safe, in most conditions. We have to admit that the chance that we have a nuclear power plant breaking down is far less than accidents happening in other energy plants.
In conclusion, nuclear energy could endanger our lives, however the chance of its happening is extremely rare. As long as it’s functioning normally, it is certainly one of our best choices of power source.
