  I still remember the time when we started school, naive and innocent, but were told to be ambitious and to make efforts to be distinguished . Over the years, I’ve been thinking whether we should follow ambitious goals even they’re not realistic, or focus on realistic dreams. And now I think I have the answer. I cannot agree more that we, as youngters, should be realistic and achieve our goals step by step.
  For one thing, keep in mind that not everyone could be president, nor could everyone be Bill Gates or Steven Jobs. It’s good for an idividual to have dreams which will act as a spur in his way toward success, but the goal should be basesd on his ability which was given to him upon birth. In fact geniuses are minority. Unfortunately most of us haven’t been blessed with brilliance as the great inventor Edward Edison or the physicist Albert Eintein. Some of the young, driven by fame and wealth, are dreaming to be top singers or popular actors like Vitas or Tom Hanks, who are well known in art and showbiz, whose success is a combination of talent and oppornities, both of which are indispensable. But not everyone is lucky enough to get both.
  For another, being happy other than achievements is the essence of life. If we set a goals that are too far for us to reach, the odds of failing are too high, which we can hardly bear. Imagining that you’ve made all the efforts you can to attempt a dream but in vain in the end, what will you feel? Disappointed, depressed or disapairing? Different people may have different attitudes towards failure. Some may be recovered soon after the beat, but some would break down and would never get on their feet again. A wise man is not necessarily a man who could make great contributions to the society or make big fortunes within his lifetime but a man who can distinguish between the realitic or unrealitic dreams and is always happy about what he has achieved. It’s a waste of time to pursue a dream that is impossible to be realised. Why not take it easy and aim low so that you can enjoy more of your life.
  For those who are born with talent and are promising to outstand in the furture, being ambitious is helpful for their carreer. But for the ordinary ones, maitaining neutral and aloof attitude towards life goals is more suitable.

I can’t agree more with the opinion that people can take care of their families better when they live in big cities despite the fact that the gap between cities and coutryside is becaoming smaller due to the fast speeding of the urbanization.
Firstly, people who live in big cities can enjoy a relatively more complete infrastructure facilities for education, medical care, trasportation etc. which means a more convenient and efficient life in big cities. Children, if attend school in big cities, will definetely receive a better education and behave better than in the countryside, which has a far reaching consequence for the children’s future. And elder people could receive advanced and timely medical care if they are in emergency benifiting from the well organised and better trained first aid treatment.
   Secondly, numerous goods are available in bigcities, which can satisfy people’s uprising demand. Supermarkets in big cities are filled with all kinds of goods, from commodities to major appliance. People could easily get what they want, without much trouble. While, in the countryside, taking my hometown for an example, you would cost an arm and a leg to get a qualified baby bottle because there are few babies in the countryside so they won’t goods in too many. But if in the big cities, things are much different for the large population and the big demand.
  Finally, living in a big city is much more intersting. After supper, you can take a walk with your families in a nearby park, go to the movies or even to a concert, while in the countryside, maybe the only thing you can do after dinner is to curl up in the coach and watch TV with your families. Isn’t it dull ? So a big city can bring you and your family with more fun as the entertainments in the big city are more colorful.
  All in all, though the countryside is more helpful for our health for its fresh air and less noise, I still persist that it is much more easier for us to take good care of our families in a big city than in the countyside. And I don’t think I’m the only one.

In some dissusions, we need to express our own opinions or opposite views about a controversial problem. There are various ways to hold a discussion such as e-mail or voice messaging. And I prefer the former for the following reasons.


Firstly, delivring our point of views by e-mail or text messaging allows us to have more time considering and organising our wording, so that we can express ourselves more comlpletely. Moreover, careful consideration may make your expession more precisely and appropriately with the help of some references. However,by telephone or voice messaging, you may feel nervous or depressed due to the tense atmosphere which can obviously affect your performance.

  Secondly , better wording and organisation may help you avoid embarrassments or hurting others when arguing against some claims. Here’s a vivid example. Weeks ago, some of my classmates, both girls and boys, were discussing about the sexual dicrimination problems in our society as their schoolwork for the sociology class. One of the boys said something offensive to the females out of unawareness, which aroused outrage among the girls. The displeased girls quarreled with the boy and even all the boys who took part in the discussion. And of course their discussion ended in failure.What's worse the girls claimed that they would never talk to that boy again unless he appoligized to the whole class. Only if the boy had some consideration, their schoolwork would be finshed smoothly and they can save much trouble and unpleasure.

  Finally, although voice messaging is more efficient because talking is much faster than typing,
sometimes it is diffiult to gather the group members in a specific time. While e-mail can solve this promblem since we needn’t sit in front of the computer all the time when discussing. And recording and sorting out what the group members have said is much easier since the arguments have been typed which will help you recall the their key standpoints.

Granted that telephone or voice messaging is a more efficient way when discussing an urgent issue, e-mail and text messaging is still more effective for talking over upseting or disputable problems when there is plenty of time.
