As the development of the society,people have more chances to move around from one place to the other,and whether this is a good thing or not often depends on several object or subject factors,such as the climate,the relationship with the surrounding people and the opportunity you can gain access to in the new place.
The first  factor is the climate whether you can adjust to.If people can have a better and heathier life in the new place,with no doubt that it is a good thing for people to move to a new town or a new country.For example,one of my university classmates often got ill when living in the university,located in the north,sometimes got a cold,and sooner or later he might get a cough,but after he moved to the south,he never got ill.So it is a good thing for him to move to a new town even if he had to lose some good friends,the health of him is the most important for him.
Moreover,whether you can have a good relationship with people around is another key factor to determine if it is right to move to a new place.If you can not deal with the relationships of people properly,that means you are always unhappy in the environment,and you often need try your best and waste most of your time on the relationship with others,I suggest leaving the palce and to move to a new town or a new country。Take my sister as an example,she worked in a clothing shop before,and once she told me that she was tired of her work and especially hated to make relationships with her collegues because they were always trying to use bad tricks to do harm for their competitors,even if they were collegues,she felt having great pressure on such affairs,then I asked her to leave that city and come to my town instead,now she felt better a lot,and always have a smile on her face.I think in such cases moving to a new town is a wise choice.
Last but not the least,if the old place can not supply a pretty good opportunity to achieve what you wanted,such as your career goals or that place can not provide enough chances to realize your dream,it is better to move to a new town or a new country.Take myself as an example,my goal is to be a chemistry scientist,and my previous university can not offer me the best major in  chemistry,then I move to my current city because it can satisfy my basic needs of strict training of my experimental skills and research abilities,so I think it is a good thing for me to move to this new place,even if I am far away from my friends,but in fact I have not lose my friends,because we always call each other by cellphones or chat on QQ.
All in all,it is too hesitate to make conclusions that it is a good or bad thing to move to a new town or a new country,certainly it depends on special factors everyone's  pry on.

In the lecture,the professor casts doubts on what the passage says that the number of  birds in the United States will decrease because of the increase of the human population,the agricultural activities and pesticide use.
For the first one,the reading passage refers that the expanding of the human populations and settlements have resulted the continuing disappearance of birds' natural habitats.However,the lecture regards it not as a truth.She thinks that even if  the number of some traditional areas suitable for birds have declined,some other places will be increased,like the number of birds,like piegions,even hawks are in a rather large numbers in the city,even if they shrink in rural habitats.
Second,it is true that agricultural activities have increased in recent years as it mentions in the reading passage,but the lecturer argues that it does not mean people will use more wilderness as the farmlands.In fact,as the advancement of the technology in the USA,new crops can produce more food than before,so people will make use of less and less farmland in the future.
Last,the reading passage mentions the toxical chemical pesticides used by human beings,which will contribute to the decline of the birds' population.However,the professor says the truth is that pesticides are not so destructive as the reading materials shows,especially when people are aware of the impotance of the environmental protection.In reality,people have used new and less toxic pesticides. Moreover,it is popular for people to grow pest-resistant crops,which not only can resist the insects,but they can also not do harm for the birds.

As the depression of the economic,job seeking has become a more and more serious and important issure for all the undergraduates and graduates of the university,so I consider it is neccesarry for the college or the university to provide more preparation for students before they go working.
The first and formost,it is the responsibility for the university to supply good services of the job in the students' future.If the college can offer students good preparation before they start working,the students not only can seek good jobs using the techniques their professors have taught,but they should also will not be blind during the working process,and they might make fewer mistakes and jump out from their peers quickly,and they may succeed more easily.As more and more students gain access to success more easily and faster than other graduates,the reputation  of the school will be promoted and its influence will be expanded in the society,as a result they will attract more excellent students to attend to,then the university will gradually step into a perfect circle of developing.
Moreover,offering more preparation for students not only benefits the school,the students themselves also gain great benifit from it.Take myself as an example,why am I  not confused about my future work or life nowadays as many of my classmates are complaining they do not know what they are interested and what they should take as a career?The simplest reason is that my previous university has offered us about the knowledge of career planning as early as I was a freshman,one of my advisor had once chatted with me about what I was interested and what my personalities are and what potential ability I had and in what direction I should strive for,then at that time I have known of myself well enough that I clearly know what should I do in the future and I never felt blind about my future.So now I just have to try my best to achieve the goals.See how it is nessary for the university to offer preparation before I go to work.  
In turn,if the students can not receive enough preparation before they start working,they may waste a lot of time to gain the experience by their individual force,by comparison of what has taught in school,such as the real story of their senior students,or sometimes the experience of the professor themselves,they would take less detours,otherwise they may confront many difficulties especially at the beginning of your career.
All in all,the more preparation the university can offer,the more the students have learnt,the easily they will gain acess to their goals.

In the lecture,the professor cast doubts on the opinion that genetically modified trees will  promise to bring a large amount of benefits as the reading passage mentions.She listed several reasons to argue about them.
First,the reading passage considers that genetically modified trees will be easier to survive than the nature trees.But the professor offers the fact is that genetically modified trees are specially desigend just for one certain condition,like a specific climate,if the climate chages a little,then they can not adjust to the environment,and all the them will die,especially the frequent changes in the global climate nowadays.
Second,it refers to the economic benefits that the genetically modified trees will bring to tree farmers in the reading materials.In fact,farmers had to pay for the seeds every year as the professor said in the listening passage,she argued that farmers need cost a large sum of money to buy the modified tree seeds,as a result modified trees may not make fortunes as the reading passage says.
Third, the reading passage regards the usage of genetically modified trees can stop overexploritation of wild trees.However,the lecturer argued that genetically modified trees will cause more damage to natural trees,because they will outcompete with the natural trees,such as taking up more soil,fertitiser or sunshine,as a result the genetically modified trees will crowd out the nature trees.

3月1日 110115NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The main role of the university professor is to educate students rather than to do research.
As more and more students can go to university, the demands and requirements for the universities have increased, especially for the professors in the school, now more and more universities ask their professors not only to teach in class, but also should gain access to some research at the same time. Then it raises a question: What is the main role of the university professor? Is it to educate students or to do research? For me, I think the professor should devote all their energy to educate students, instead of doing research.
Firstly, a researcher's role is to do research, but the professor should owns something special which is different from them. Then that is their role of education, and this is also the reason why professors always could gain high social status and reputation. We all know that professors must be the teachers at first, so it is their basic responsibility to educate students, but not the research.
Moreover, if professors spent more time with their students, students will grow better and mature faster. Because everyone must experience confusions, not only studying the knowledge, but also including some blind feeling of their future life, or lose directions. So at this time, the appearance of professors' assistance would be very desirable, for example, when I am studying one of major subject-organic chemistry, it is so hard for all of us, but I like learning this one, why? because the professor in this subject always uses interesting but easy example to explain some very difficult theories, and I always ask her questions when I felt confused with some points of the class, then the professor will carefully teach how to think, and how it is interesting if I will do deeper research into it, then from that time I want to become a chemist in that field. You can imagine if the professor concentrates all on the research, he may not have good preparation for the class and enough time to chat with the students and use strategy to attract students to appreciate the beauty of their areas.
Third, teaching benefits teacher as well as students. For example, professors can accept new and erratic, creative ides from students through the communication with them, because students are always young, and usually their brains are more active and imaginative so that they can create new ideas, which may promote and renew the professors' ideas.
All in all, it is better for the university professor to focus their attention on educating students instead of doing research.

In the lecture, the professor considers the Ethanol fuel would be a good alternative for gasoline, which contradicts with the opinion and reasons mentioned in the reading passage. He lists some defects of the points that the reading materials referring to.
For the first one is that the use of ethanol fuel will not add the global warning as the reading passage points out, because the lecturer thinks that the plants which can make ethanol fuel can absorb the carbon dioxide and counteract with it in its inter body, so the growing plants will help remove the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Secondly, the professor argues that the production of the ethanol would not reduce the plants available for uses, such as feeding farm animals, which is also different from the viewpoints in the reading passage. Because the professor says that people can grow the plants selectively, for instance, they can choose to grow plants which are not eaten by animals.
Thirdly, the lectures also can not agree with the assertion that ethanol fuel will never be able to compete with gasoline on price in the reading passage. Because he regards that once enough people start to use the ethanol fuel, then the production of it will be increased, it is sure that its price will come down, and someone have estimated that the price of ethanol fuel can drop by 40%,so it is too hesitate to make conclusions which price will be lower.
