The population pressure has brought in alot of later effects, such as the lack of resources and the unprecedented largeamount of pollution. One of the features that had impressed me most is that weare suffering from over-sized classes. If the local government had made the lawabout the class size limitation, I think I would say yes. There have been a fewexperimental sites about the small classes project and its most importantimprovements are its more friendly and close surrounding, its easy managementand its centered attention.
Most of the traditional large classes haveabout 40-50 students and it is not easy for all of them to know each other well,let alone making friend and being familiar with others. In a smaller sizedclass, students have more chances to communicate with others so that they canfeel close both to students and even to teachers. So in small-sized classes,the relationship of the students can be more harmonious and intimate than thatin large classes.
Another advantage of smaller classes isthat in such environment, it is easier for teachers to manage the whole classno matter in the aspect of the life and study. Meanwhile, it in some degree hasreleased part of the teacher’s burden in school. Teachers are responsible forthe safety and education of the students, fewer students means less pressure.So the small classes can indirectly reduce the teachers’ pressure.
What’s more, students can get moreattention paid from the teachers if they are in a small class rather than abigger one. Every student is more likely to be chosen in class activity and canbe more a participant instead of a listener. At the same time, teachers don’thave to worry about the difference in levels of the students because they canstop anytime if there has been a question. In a word, the small size in classcan also fulfill the varied requirements of students of different levels.
Wecannot absolutely assert that the smaller classes is the only way that can beused to improve the class effect. But we can say that the smaller classes areable to solve some kinds of questions mention above and will be a longtimeeffective method in education improvement.
