   In the uncultured past of human being, there were justifications to complain about shortage of choice. Men at that time were largely subjective to the unpredictable nature and cruel living situations and therefore in most circumstance, they faced with less, if ever, chance of independent choice. However, for the new baby boomers, it would be too finicky to complain about the absence of choice. As restrictions such as laws still exist and limit human’s freedom, far more opportunities for wide-range choices have actually been created beyond that we always imagine.

    It is true that even in the contemporary world that is characterized for democracy and freedom, there are still restrictions and obligations fell on every individual or group which could necessary limit the opportunity of choice. Our behaviors would be largely driven by the external forces, and be subservient to the law restriction. Plus, all trades or professions would have their own regulations or rules that they have to obey so as to thrive. Beyond all these basic restrictions however, it should be kept in mind that much more opportunities have been created, providing us with numerous of chances to select ways we prefer.

   One could easily deduce from general principles and agree that the chances of choice have been frequently created in the contemporary social life. As we all know, one of the main features characterizing our contemporary society lies in its high productivity and largely accumulated material commodities. Free competitive market was born, allowing the customers to choose freely among the numerous counterpart products, without needs to be consensus with the second best. Also, high technology has made it possible for us to select from a series of shopping means, either by e-shops on the internet or randomly shopping with a few of friends. This yet is simply one of the small partitions of choice of living model in contemporary society. All other facets are equally widened and provide choice for us. High rate railway or airlines make it possible for us to travel faster than ever, and therefore we are now facing with a wider choice of tourism sites or learning areas without subservient to the geographic limitation. Plus, more and more working opportunities have been persistently created, widening the job choices for the perspective workers. Needless to say the modern education, which also plays a role in propelling the full development of individuals who could then be more competitive for more opportunities for himself and for the society as a whole.

   Aside from general principles, I also propose the practical observations in all arenas of modern society to get a full appreciation of how abundant the chance of choice is in the modern society. In the political realm, one could now easily choose a political standpoint, ridiculous or conservative, as well as he sees the truth and sensibility in it that could benefit the whole society, and he could also possibly easily escape himself from any political considerations as long as he is not interested in such issues. Similar things appear in the economic areas. Any companies could freely seek for their own principles to earn as much money as possible, provided they stay in law. More illustrating examples exist in the culture. What we seek for nowadays is a diversified world full of different ideas and creations. Culture shares this character now, with different genres coming to interact and generate now types now. Now absolute authority exists here to compress the development of other new ones. A writer might be interested in writing scientific fiction, romantic ones, or historical literatures. All will be ok once if he is devoted to occupy.
     In a word, as indicated from general principles and practical observation, the chance of choice is now a circumstance which is rarely absent. We should always bear it in minds that it is due to ourselves who are responsible to endeavor to earn as much as opportunities as possible so as to present ourselves in the best way.
